Washington Warthogs. Nod to the hogs, the badass tank destroyer aircraft (military), and it begins with W. Wouldn’t shock me. Wouldn’t be my first choice either - I’d prefer wolves - but I could see it.

A lot of over stretching about that "authentic" comment... Especially when you consider authentic isn't even about Washington in the quote [emoji1787]
https://www.nbcsports.com/washington/football-team/wft-team-president-learned-lessons-clevelands-guardians-name-change He's talking about Cleveland's renaming process and trying to say nice things about them because he knows how it's like to be in that spot, knows they're gonna get roasted by some people no matter what they pick, and would like not to get roasted too hard by too many people... He's speaking in very overall generic terms. Trying to see it as a hint towards (or away from) any name is a MASSIVE stretch. Just look at the videos they made about the rebrand. Add the Jonathan Allen "dogs on 3" huddle break video, with players howling. Look at every single online poll. And tell me Redwolves/Wolves is not a clear cut front runner at this point. And anyway he knows he can not be supportive of any name. |

Listen closely. He said he wants to have a name that honors the past. Redwolves is out folks |

Sent from my SM-G973U using Tapatalk
All he says is that they have to be good stewards in the rebranding. If 75% of the fans want redwolves (and I am not saying they do) then being good stewards would include choosing the name redwolves. Ultimately they are going to announce the name in 2022 and I think they aren't going to be clear and straightforward until they do. The intrigue markets well. Sent from my SM-G973U using Tapatalk |

I like Wolves over Redwolves but I just don’t see them going that route if they are honoring the past… maybe Washington Hogs? |

Lol. Yeah it's weird for me, before the name change I was as diehard that the name should not be changed as you could be. But after the initial shock, I have embraced it. I think the team, players and even some alumni support helped; definitely Rivera's steadfast commitment to the tradition and honor of the team, without high handedness around the change; and of course the team's 180 degree turn in professionalism all have helped me accept the name change. But honestly so did thinking the name will be Wolves (I don't care if it's red wolves) the Washington Wolves with the right branding is just an awesome name for a football team imo. Warthogs or Hogs is okay, better than many others but it is not as good as Wolves Sent from my SM-G973U using Tapatalk |

You are right about wolves tho, you could kill the marketing game with that name / Logo. |

He says "this renaming is about *can't hear one word* people's memory, people that watched you play Joe, with their parents, their grand parents, with their loved ones, and so we gotta take our time to do it right" rather than "picking a name out of a hat". He's justifying why they're are taking so much time. He's not saying anything about what they want to pick. Envoyé de mon SHV48 en utilisant Tapatalk |
