Redskin Veteran Cuts
Well they will later today

re: Redskin Veteran Cuts
Lots of people are going to be celebrating like crazy over this...SS do we have a plan to target a replacement?
|
re: Redskin Veteran Cuts
Thank you lord!!!!!!! It's going to be a great day!!!!!
|
re: Redskin Veteran Cuts
Right now Will Montgomery is penciled in as the starter, last I heard but I'm sure Kory L. and Eric Cook will get their opportunities
|
re: Redskin Veteran Cuts
Unless they sign a vet off the streets, I think it's Will's to lose.
|
re: Redskin Veteran Cuts
So no DMcNabb, Haynesworth, or Rabach to gripe about. Beck is left out there like a lightning rod, he better do good, or all the pent up fan frustration will be hitting him like a class 5 hurricane
|
re: Redskin Veteran Cuts
Hopefully this means we signed a guard and we're moving Will Mont, Lichtensteiger to C.
|
re: Redskin Veteran Cuts
FREE AT LAST FREE AT LAST THANK GOD ALMIGHTY I'M FREE AT LAST. Just kidding. It's not like Vinny is leaving or anything. Still people should take time to remember that Rabach use to be our most steady lineman.
|
re: Redskin Veteran Cuts
Finally I don't have to hear any more "Holding...Casey Rabach"
|
re: Redskin Veteran Cuts
I hear Rabach is going into a new profession. Here is what he'll be doing after his stay here in Washington.

re: Redskin Veteran Cuts
So will Will Montgomery step in or do you think they'll go after someone? Do we think Eric Cook is ready?
|
re: Redskin Veteran Cuts
thank god! good move.
|
re: Redskin Veteran Cuts
I am a happy man today! Lets get better time starts this season! McNabb and Haynesworth and Rabach gone... I think I am dreaming! I will now root for Kerakpo connection and lets bring in more lineman....
|
re: Redskin Veteran Cuts
A lot of ppl made happy.
|
re: Redskin Veteran Cuts
I can't see us bringing in a vet center off the streets. The better ones are on the other side of thirty and the Skins made it clear to Rabach that they want to "get younger and have the depth" to do it. That's the quote.
Bottom line, we have to go to camp and let guys compete and let the chips fall where they may. I wouldn't get too worked up about who's in right now. |

re: Redskin Veteran Cuts
Chris Russell says Chad Simpson will also be cut (not surprising, doesn't merit its own thread)
|
re: Redskin Veteran Cuts
I would be happier if he was beat out in camp & became the backup center or was then released. I realize that he's better off being released now than later. Hope we're not griping about Kory L. or Montgomery in a couple months!
Rabach was part of Gibbs II & held down his position for 6 years; good team player but time had caught up w/him. Thanks Casey! |

SS, did the Rabach release surprise you from what you were hearing previously? With our Oline interior plan, it kinda shakes things up. If Rabach is in place at C, Left Guard seemed to be one of the guys who now replaces Rabach (maybe). If we sign a free agent at the RG position (top notch hopefully), lets say Montgomery wins the job. Is Kory L. at Left Guard? Seems to me if Montgomery fails at Center and doesnt win the job, we are once again in trouble in the interior unless a young guy steps up or getting a couple vet guards the play? |
re: Redskin Veteran Cuts
I know he was a good guy and a leader, but he was not producing on the field. I can't remember how many times I saw the likes of Jay Ratliff just truck over the guy. Now let's get Davin Joseph or Harvey Dahl.
|
re: Redskin Veteran Cuts
Back in February? No, wouldn't have surprised me. It was expected. But as the lockout dragged on it seemed less likely they would release him right away
|
re: Redskin Veteran Cuts
Rabach's contract was basically set up as a 1 year deal, so this shouldn't be a big surprise.
|
re: Redskin Veteran Cuts
Any word on what's happen with Portis and Rogers?
|
re: Redskin Veteran Cuts
Heyer at RG, for real.
|
re: Redskin Veteran Cuts
Oops wrong thread. My apologies!
|
re: Redskin Veteran Cuts
Glad to see this guy go. It was time.
|
re: Redskin Veteran Cuts
Uh, so, we're not tanking the season? Weird. I could have sworn we were going to pull this one off.

I think the guy the FO wanted to take Rabach spot was the player selected by the Raiders before we took Hankerson in the 3rd round. I guess from a plan standpoint it surprises me especially when you name Montgomery the starter, but hell why should that when we have named Beck a starter. dunno, the lockout did eff somethings up, but makes things much more interesting. I hope we get some breaks and our guys step up |
re: Redskin Veteran Cuts
I haven't been able to have a serious discussion about Rabach in more than a year. The guy was an a fringe roster guy way back on Jim Zorn's first team. He wasn't that good in 2007. By December 2008, he wasn't even a top 30 NFL center. It's unbelievable that the Redskins changed quarterbacks TWICE while they kept up the charade that Rabach belonged on an NFL field.
Perhaps no player's performance better aggregated the lunacy of being a Redskins fan over the Gibbs-Zorn-Shanahan transition than the horrible performance of Casey Rabach. He was truly the consummate Redskin. And for that, he will always be remembered and cherished. Particularly when they bring him back next week on a one year deal. |

I know you must have smiled at least once in the past. Try to remember and replicate. :) |

We sent them gift baskets with little cards that said "Thanks for the memories - Go Away!" |

Throw in the fact that CP and stone hands Rogers are gone and we pretty much have cut all the drama queens, pouters, etc. Perhaps Shanahan read the Willie Parker quotes. lol. Seriously, I think we are truly heading into a new chapter of the Skins. Some of the guys on this roster are going to be here 10 years or more. Not a lot of connection to the Skins of the 2000's. That's a good thing. |
Phillip Daniels relased per his own Twitter post. Good dude but he is getiing up there in age.

I'm not at all against that. He looked like a beast when he got some playing time at guard. Hell, we don't have anything to lose by giving him a shot at taking that spot. |
re: Redskin Veteran Cuts
Excellent. Kory L. & Monty compete at C.
|
Re: Redskin Veteran Cuts
Updated the thread title to broaden the scope. No true surprises so far
Maake Rabach Daniels Andre Brown Chad Simpson |
As expected Kemo has been released (per Twitter). Now available at Redskins park for sale: an XXXX-L Skins helmet.

The guy hasn't taken a regular season snap for the Redskins and he's already incurring predisposed blame. Broad scope be damned. |
Re: Redskin Veteran Cuts
very glad to get rid of rabach. he wasnt any good. kemo also sucked and had no future here. so thus far we've gotten rid of 2 vets who sucked (kemo and rabach) and traded away 2 players that the staff didnt want here anymore and who didnt want to be here anymore (mcnabb and haynesworth), and have received 2 6th rounders and a 5th for them (at least 2 are in 2013)

Re: Redskin Veteran Cuts
Add Roydell Williams to the cut list
