Redskins announce a number of changes to front office, scouting staff

I found this interesting
In an interesting move, the 'Skins added Connor Barringer to the role of football strategy analyst. Barringer had been working for Pro Football Focus prior to his hire in the Washington front office. Tyler Claytor will be the team's new scouting assistant.
Sheehan said (kinda jokingly) that he wanted him on his show.

It'll be interesting to know exactly what his role will be though. Will he just be a stats compiling guy, or, knowing how Cooley publicly embarrassed this team's laughable tendencies, will he have a say on what can be done to fix that.

I actually think it’s a decent move and the kinda out the box thinking that could freshen up he front office approach. I’d like to know who made the call for this dude, because this doesn’t sound like a Bruce move. Strategy analyst in the front office, is this team building strategy I’m assuming?...because it sounds weird a football strategy dude would probably be on the coaching staff in more a consulting coordinator?

It’s a nod to PFF doing decent work too...but scouting and strategic team building has never been more important in the game. There is a ton of data available on these players and finding how a player fits what you are trying to do as a team is vital to success...sometimes the best player isn’t the best player for your particular system. Analyzing where to spend money on a team vs where to build from within. Trying to find value in specialists for particular game sets and situational football. Good team do this shit...but most have an identity already or are building towards that identity

Nobody on this board that I know of has bashed PFF stats and data.

I think most would welcome more analytics. Especially when it comes to evaluating production on the "Duo" run play!!!!!!!!!!!

I think folks, including myself, have a real problem with the slap dash grades they slap on players in less than a 24 hour period when not knowing assignments, checks, or rotations.

Good points. I wonder when we've truly had an identity under Snyder? Definitely Gibbs 2. Maybe the Shanahan's. That's it. Under Jay it's been all over the place.
