The contract definitely looks good now, but I swear all you Collins lovers better not be bitching when you see him get burnt for a td because he was out of position. If we use him right he can be a major impact player. Teams are going to try and take advantage of him in coverage though.
There's a reason why he's been an all pro three out of the last four years...the Redskins certainly upgraded....

pro bowl 3 outta four years...all pro his second year in the league.

Either way, he's a talent we are getting in his prime.

I agree and I wish the Giants could have kept him.

Yeah...the Franchise tag at 11 mill suddenly looks affordable.

Collins said he wouldn't play on the tag so that would have done no good and Gettleman is doing a could job of dumping all the big money . After this year Eli ,Vernon and Odell are gone.

Wonder who he got to forge the signature?

Cooley's film breakdown of Landon Collins

+

Can play everywhere, has played a lot of 2 deep safety, a bit of single high safety
Good range, good speed, good breaks, good angles
Good feel to cut routes and understand concepts when he plays deep
Instinctual consistent tackler
Good in man to man coverage against TEs and RBs
Disciplined and very intelligent player, doesn't bite into play action easily, reads blocking scheme very well, stays with his responsibility when the play breaks down
Rallies to the ball
Team captain at 24 years old => solid leader

-

Overruns coverage when he plays underneath zone, doesn't key QB eyes that well
Not a great blitzer
Can allow some separation in man coverage (but has good make up speed)
Sometimes misses outside-in tackles
A bit un-decisive in zone shifting and pattern matching, this is why he doesn't make a ton of picks

So, yeah, he's way more versatile than people have been saying, but excels as a box safety.

Is it my imagination or does the media, especially ESPN have a habit of over the top bad mouthing anything the Redskins do. This is the same ESPN that gave the Bears an A grade for signing Clinton-Dix.

ESPN w/out question and it's mostly because of the name.

ESPN hates the Redskins, always bashing the team for something.

NFLN on the other hand with Kay Adams fine self shows us love here and there.

They just can't stop interjecting their political BS into sports.

This has nothing to do with politics, and more that everyone hates Dan Snyder and it is easier to get more clicks and attention to your story if you are bashing the Redskins.

Trust me, if the Redskins had done any of the following, the media would be having a field day:

- Trade AB to Oakland for 3rd and a 5th, while absorbing a $21 mil dead money cap hit.

- Trade OBJ to the Browns for a 1st and 3rd, the year after giving him a new contract and absorbing $16 mil in dead cap money.

And while some people are criticizing those teams, nothing comes close to what the coverage would be if we had done either of those things.

I still think he's gonna blow coverages...I'm looking forward to seeing big plays from him...I'm just concerned that with that big contract he's either going to try and do too much or not enough....especially in his first year....
