LaRon Landry's hit
Anybody have a video of it? Even though it was a penalty is was still sweet.

Re: LaRon Landry's hit
That was one of the dumbest penalties i've seen. Great play, stupid mistake. I don't understand why players don't understand that it's going to be a penalty if you taunt like that. Don't get me wrong, LL played great last night, but he can't do stupid stuff like that. I'm sure he'll get a talkin to, by GW.

Re: LaRon Landry's hit
That Was So Uncalled For.why?if The Redskins Get In The Playoffs And He Does That It Could Very Well Cost Them The Game Or Any Game For That Matter.stupid Just Stupid.good Player, dum Mistake Laron.no More Please!

The same GW that back when Taylor was getting lots of personal fouls, said he wouldn't change a thing because he wants an enforcer back there? He wants receivers thinking twice? It was a dumb penalty, but a hell of a hit. |
Re: LaRon Landry's hit
GW said in the post game presser (Comcast) that he ran out of four letter words on Landry during half-time.

Yeah, but this wasn't a penalty for a hit, it was a penalty for stupidity. |
Re: LaRon Landry's hit
The game highlights are on redskins.com and probably this site somewhere. That was a sweet hit, too bad his penalty cost us 3 points. In my opinion it was well worth it though. I think Sean Taylor has inspired young Laron. He is playing lights out for a rook and making some big hits too.
|
Re: LaRon Landry's hit
I have it at home, but I'm sure it will be on YouTube soon.

What? The hit was well worth it, the taunting was not. The hit served a purpose the taunting doesn't. I like Laron and I think he's going to be probowl level, but we don't need any of that. |

It will be in the highlight video. I hope to have it posted by this evening... |
Re: LaRon Landry's hit
Dumb penalty, but you still have to like his aggressive nature. He's Sean Taylor all over again in a lot of ways.
He seems like a natural at free safety too. |
Re: LaRon Landry's hit
As long as WR start fearing him we can lvie with the dumb penalties for now. They do need to fade away but for now lets be happy the guy is banging hats back there. He'll learn.
|
Re: LaRon Landry's hit
ST did much worse, and that improved with age. While I don't like Landry's taunting penalty, I think it's hard to tell a young player to be a monster back there, and then completely turn it off when the whistle stops. Part of that comes with maturity.
|
Re: LaRon Landry's hit
ive read scouting reports about laron saying he was a natural free safety to begin with, and it shows. he has great range
|
Re: LaRon Landry's hit
He's got range and really impressive speed. When he gets on his horse he really moves!
|
Re: LaRon Landry's hit
All I have to say about LaRon Landry is that we have found our new FS.
|
Re: LaRon Landry's hit
Great hit and sometimes its hard to fault a player for getting pumped up. With that said he does need to learn to lay the wood then walk away.
|
Re: LaRon Landry's hit
LL took a stupid penalty.
That said, he also left a message for every wide receiver in the league that the spirit of ST lives... Come deep on us and you will be trashed. Get ready to see alligator arms again, I can't wait... |

That's what she said. |

I think GW didn't mind if ST had a little late hit and stuff like that but taunting after the play is a little different. |
Re: LaRon Landry's hit
Quality hit, as the replays showed him close in big time to make the play. He made a rookie mistake with the taunt, but he was in the heat of the moment. Unfortunately, it was 2 weeks in a row for him, and hence why where is more attention to it.
He's doing an awesome job in centerfield roaming around for #21. He's going to be a Pro Bowler in a short time. |
Re: LaRon Landry's hit
he will learn in time but i do like what i see from laron thus far...
|
Re: LaRon Landry's hit
Landry had another one in the second half in the end-zone. Same thing, coming across the field in support and just creaming Burress, although it was the one that Smoot broke up. He still crushed Burress, and I don't know that he would have been able to hang onto it even if he had caught it.
|
Re: LaRon Landry's hit
stupid, stupid mistake,If I was Gibbs he would be fined for stupidity,2 weeks in a row and it let the other team score in both cases, were just very lucky it didnt cost us either game, but what if it had? Plus when they were showing landry on the sideline after the play and another player looked like he was getting on to him about the penalty,it looked to me like he had a smirk or was smiling like whatever dude, that pissed me off
|
Re: LaRon Landry's hit
I'd love to see any video highlights posted. The town of Leesburg lost power 30 minutes prior to kickoff. Since I had to stay home with my son, I ended up listening to the entire game on my car radio.
|
Re: LaRon Landry's hit
Idiotic penalty, he better decide if he's here to win or to make highlight reels? I think he is a natural free safety, he hits hard but nothing like Taylor did, but I do think Williams may have had the 2 of them in the wrong positions, Landry may be a better free safety over all.
|
Re: LaRon Landry's hit
Landry is playing free safety.
|
Re: LaRon Landry's hit
I don't like the penalty but Sean used to do the same kind of things. I want him to put fear in the recievers. Laron has great range, i really hope GW keeps him at free safety.
|
Re: LaRon Landry's hit
We are in the playoff hunt so I was a little upset but if we weren't playing for anything I wouldn't care install that fear LL. LL was clearly the best pick in the draft. Gaines Adams, Jamal Anderson & others in the draft that we were arguing over isn't playing at the level LL is he doing damn good. To be the first rookie to start opening day in GW defense says alot about the kid alone.
|
Re: LaRon Landry's hit
I believe the taunting penalty has only been enforced in very recent seasons. Not making excuses for Landry though, he should know the rules. Still, I believe penalites should be limited to illegal moves in the game or moves that will or meant to injure, rather than stuff like taunting and excessive celebration UNLESS it causes a delay of game.

Re: LaRon Landry's hit
Does anyone have a video of the hit?
|
Re: LaRon Landry's hit
Second that. I'd like to see it again.

Thanfully it didn't. Whaddya know, a rookie made a rookie mistake. The kids been lights out so far and I think he's learned his lesson. |

Relax you don't even know what they were talking about. |

Granted, GW had him playing as a hybrid FS-SS earlier in the season, but seeing him as a true FS has allowed him to shine. No one will ever replace ST, but LL definitely reminds me of Sean. |

I do. GW told Landry he was going to put him in an empty room to think about that stupid penalty. Landry smirked, because, well, he can still kill you with the room itself. |
Re: LaRon Landry's hit
Landry needs to start getting some of those interceptions that he is coming so close to. Once he starts making those plays he is a pro bowler for sure.
|
Re: LaRon Landry's hit
He has to use his head for thinking though. We can't afford those types of stupid mistakes.
|
Re: LaRon Landry's hit
NO surprise he made this mistake, considering that Shockey and Burress taunt every time they make any type of play. Plus it seems that they talk more than any other offensive players in the league.
It's gotta be really hard not to say anything back. Especially when you annihilate Burress on the sideline. Rookie mistake, hope it doesnt happen with TO. |
