PIT v WFT Pregame Thread
So, here's how they stack up on paper.
Total Offense WFT #26 PIT #20 Passing Offense WFT #24 PIT #16 Rushing Offense WFT #19 PIT #24 Total Defense WFT #4 PIT #3 Passing Defense WFT #1 PIT #2 Rushing Defense WFT #15 PIT #8 Honestly, throw it all out the window. On paper the Steelers have a slight edge, but in reality they are about to find out that they aren't as good as their record says they are. Over the last 5 games, WFT averages 136 rushing yards per game. They will have 150+ on Monday. Couple that with a dink & dunk methodology to move the ball down the field, and winning the time of possession battle = a W. WFT 25 PIT 23 |

I think Pittsburg's D is legit though... and yet our Oline surprisingly keeps holding their ground against very decent fronts, last week agains the Cowboys I was surprised, that Dline which generated tons of pressure against the Vikings didn't look that impressive against us. Hard to predict, I'd love a tough defensive game all along were we get the upper hand 13 to 10. |
Re: PIT v WFT Pregame Thread
I think WFT is going to find out that running against Pgh is a lot different than running against Dallas.

Re: PIT v WFT Pregame Thread
Pitt will win. I hope we stay competitive, but it is doubtful. Pitt-Balt are always tough games, that doesn't mean anything in relation to their game with us.
Pitt will go up by 17 in the first half and hold the lead against us the whole game. Pitt 34 WFT 24 Sent from my SM-G973U using Tapatalk |
Re: PIT v WFT Pregame Thread
The entire team seems inspired by Alex Smith’s gutsy return, calm nature, and good play...can they keep it going?
Defense has to come to play and Pittsburgh will be throw first and even more so if Conner is out. Pass rush has to show up...chase, sweat, RK, etc need to get to Ben |

Re: PIT v WFT Pregame Thread
They may be 11-0 but they're not in the same class as our '91 team that started off with the same record. Not saying we'll beat them, but they are beatable especially right now.

Re: PIT v WFT Pregame Thread
They might be the only undefeated team but they aren't the best team in their conference. Right now I think they might not even be the second best. Still doubt the WFT wins but think it will be more competitive than people think.

They are the worst 11-0 team I've seen in recent years.. Ben looks old and done, arm is weak as hell. They throw a shit ton and it's all under 10 yards. He's lucky the defense is so good but losing Dupree is big. |
Re: PIT v WFT Pregame Thread
They're beatable but honestly I don't think we've beaten Pittsburgh since I started watching football and I can def. see that trend continuing this week. Secondary will have to play the game of their life though and if they can negate our pass rush we have no shot. Offense wise Alex Smith is gonna have to step up, because as has been mentioned this isn't Dallas' run defense we're talking about.
I'll say 20-17 Pitt. Initially it's not a close game, we score a pity td at the end to make it look better than it was. |
Re: PIT v WFT Pregame Thread
Keys to winning the game:
Avoid the 11 day off hangover that has plagued this team in the past, be prepared Defense must stop the run game and make them one dimensional Apply pressure on Rothleisberger, beat his ass Turner must play a balanced offense, can't get all pass happy and forget the run Other WR's need to step it up, McLaurin will be a marked man with Haden and Fitzpatrick No turn overs OL needs to protect Smith Washington can upset Pittsburgh, just need to play a smart, error free game By the way, great article: https://www.hogshaven.com/2020/12/1/21726315/the-5-oclock-club-the-cold-grip-of-doom-replaced-by-the-warm-comfort-of-confidence?fbclid=IwAR1jrGJQeiQRScbCEZyQ3qEoLI6Iu6mrpceTm34UBc7b1Gbq7zoZfQG-HLk |
Re: PIT v WFT Pregame Thread
Really hope we make this game competitive. Losing Dupree is a huge loss as he's a playmaker. Will be interesting to see how both teams play with a long/brief layover for each team.

I am ok with Turner getting pass happy if that means short quick passes - as an extension of the running game. I foresee a lot of pre-snap motion, misdirection, A Smith getting the ball out of his hands quickly and allowing JD, Antonio, Scary Terry, Sims, etc. make big plays. Give Pit a lot of different looks and things to think about. I also hope they incorporate Logan Thomas a little more. I wouldn't mind seeing him under center a couple times, executing the run-pass option. |
