Carolina is def looking at QB, they want Watson bad
Here's to them getting him.

I hope any team picking ahead of us lands Watson. Hell, I hope all 10 teams sign/trade for a QB by draft day.

Better for us to pick a rookie.

Carolina landing Watson would still require us to move up, but it makes it easier.

Right now we'd need to move to at least #4 (Jets) to get ahead of Carolina at #6. And we're not trading with the Giants #5.

With Carolina not needing a QB, we can potentially move up to #8 (Atlanta) to get ahead of Seattle at #9.

Even then, will Houston want to pick up a QB at #6 with Carolina's pick?

QBs are always overdrafted.

I think Mills has done enough to warrant a chance to be the franchise QB for Houston. But who knows. Especially w/ a new HC coming in.

My preference is to sit still at 11 and see what QBs are available. But I'm also not opposed to moving up if Rivera is 100% locked in on his guy.

I'm looking forward to this draft so much. I always do, but this year is especially interesting. If we play this offseason right, we are definitely competing for playoffs. And not at 7-9.

Lovie Smith is a placeholder HC and he was with the team last year, so he would likely roll with Mills. Also, Houston's GM is a Bruce Allen in the making, so hopefully he'll do something dumb as well.

Cheers to the 10 teams ahead of us being as dumb as possible.

Re: Official 2022 NFL Draft Thread

Here is what I could find about teams trading up into top 10 to draft a QB over the last 20 years. I would consider three of these success stories.

2004-NYG move up one spot to draft Eli Manning (technically players traded not draft positions)
2009-Jets move up from 17th to #5 draft to Mark Sanchez
2012-Redskins move up #6 to #2 to draft RG3
2016-Rams trade up from #15 to #1 to draft Jared Goff
2016-Eagles trade up from #8 to #2 to draft Carson Wentz
2017-Bears trade up from #3 to #2 to draft Trubisky
2017-Chiefs trade up from #27 to #10 to draft Patrick Mahomes
2018-Jets trade up from #6 to #3 to draft Sam Darnold
2018-Bills trade up from #12 to #7 to get Josh Allen
2018-Cardinals trade up from #15 to #10 for Josh Rosen

What will we do with our first and 2nd round picks ? I say we draft David Bell with our 1st round pick because he may not be there by the time we pick in the 2nd. Bell would be a great compliment to Scary Terry and a very good insurance policy if Curtis Samuel disappoints again.

That is the slowest highlight film I've ever seen.
We can get this guy in the 5th round, not the first.

Ive found and seen very little on what our staff did during the combine. Who did we interview?

This article was written day 2 of the combine so its more fluff than details.

Feel like our local coverage this year was non existent.

^^^^^

Looks like WR at 11 would pretty much be unanimously accepted here as a good choice.

I prefer Wilson or Burks over London, but I'd be more than OK with him too.

Baylor has 2 safeties I'd like, Woods and Pitre.

I think at 11 you can get an elite player, so maybe we shouldn't trade down from there.

I hope we go BPA at 11 and maybe trade down from our 2nd rounder if we can to recoup a pick or 2.

Re: Official 2022 NFL Draft Thread

11. Washington: Ahmad Gardner, CB, Cincinnati
If it’s true Washington offered three first-round picks to Seattle for 33-year-old Russell Wilson, then landing 29-year-old Carson Wentz for two third-rounders looks like value. It also means the Commanders won’t be prodded into taking Kenny Pickett with the 11th pick. Brugler scores Gardner as a top-10 talent at 6-foot-3 with 4.41 speed.

Analysis: Kendall Fuller is coming off an impressive season, but after allowing the sixth-most yards per attempt and the fifth-highest opposing quarterback rating in 2021, the Commanders could install Gardner as a complement on the opposite side. It’s also tempting to draft a receiver such as Treylon Burks or Chris Olave. Georgia linebacker Nakobe Dean could be the answer in the middle, but taking him here would be a reach when he’s slotted between 25 and 35. — Taylor

Nakobe Dean = Jamin Davis imo

I think we need a day 1 impact player at 11. Unless a LB is a true stud, I think it takes a few years for a college MLB to be up to speed as an NFL MLB. Edge/rushing LB can play right away but MLB, as weve seen w Davis, is a whole nother league.

Dean did start more games in college but im tepid on going MLB round 1 unless hes a stud.

He reminds me of a more athletic London Fletcher and he is also a leader like London was. I think he would have a Day 1 impact on us.

But I could see not wanting him at 11. Also, would be weird to go LB back to back in round 1. But Dean is a stud imo.

Ive read a few scouting reports on him. Seems like a smaller but more experienced Jamin. Fluid, can go btw tackles or outside, primarily covered backs and in man exclusively, solid tackler, Dick Butkus winner.

Id prefer Devin Lloyd at 11 if we go LB but I dont follow college ball that hard so i just parrot what I hear really

---------------

Skins have a trend going.

2017 - drafted DL first round
2018 - DL first round
2019 - DE first round
2020 - DE first round
2021 - LB first round
2022 - ???????

I say they buck the trend and select an offensive lineman, wide receiver, or trade back - and still select an offensive lineman or wide receiver.

I am warming to the idea of cornerback in the first, looking at the cap position it may be wise forward thinking with regards to the amount of money our 2 CBs are making next year that would allow them to move on from one or both

The capital is determined using this reference which focuses on cost and expected performance: https://overthecap.com/draft-trade-value-chart/

Commanders currently sitting at 29th in draft capital
