Superstitious about victories?

I was just curious about whether or not anyone else here has certain things they are superstitious about in relation to the Redskins play and whether or not they'll win.

For example, just over 5 weeks ago, I started growing a beard. A beard my wife hates very much, by the way. But the Skins haven't lost since I started growing the beard... So I will NOT shave until after we lose again. (Which could be next year!!! :) ) I also always wear my Portis jersey and I always wear a hat, though not necessarily just one hat in particular.

I know I am not alone out there with superstitions! Let's hear about yours!

I wear the same jersey, hat and sweatshirt (if its cold) and the same jeans (which havent been washed since the start of the season, so they have 8 home games worth of tailgate grease on em!)

Also, when things are going well I dont adjust my hat on my head or take it off...

Funny because I had a beard going for the entire 5 game streak too, just shaved yesterday because it was driving me crazy.

I'm not superstitious like I used to be.

But I have worn the same outfit in each of the last 3 games, but I'm a bum who tends to wear the same stuff on the weekends anyway.

This is too funny. My wife bought me a mini Redskins helmet that somehow made it's way behind the TV set during the Raiders game and has been out of sight during the last 5 weeks. I will not look for it again as long as we keep winning. Also, I wanted to get a new jersey a few weeks ago, but continue to wear my maroon jacket and watch all games at the same bar in San Francisco, where I have never seen them lose yet this year.....hopefully that helmet will still be behind my TV until February!

We hung a Redskins flag from our Xmas stocking when the win streak started 5 weeks ago. Guess I'll have to keep the Xmas stocking in place for several more weeks, so the flag can hang there as good luck.

During each game, whenever there's a crucial play, I make the sign of the cross over and over (my Catholic upbringing, I guess). I figure it can't hurt to ask for help from on-high.

Oh that cant be the reason why we have won so much.

I wear my jerseys but each one is different each game. I wear 17 or 3.

The last 5 games I have worn a piece of Redskins gear everyday. I teach during the week so a lot of the times I wore a white skins shirt as an undershirt. I started wearing one piece of skins gear the week before we started the streak going and haven't let up. On game days I wear a ralley cap to go along with whatever jersey I put on. Also, whenever the skins are on offense I never sit down (nerves dictate the last one though).

OMG I have been growing a beard too the last 5 weeks. I said to myself once they make it to the playoff I'd cut it and I did this morning. I just couldn't stand looking like homeless person anymore...lets hope the new beard I start growing helps the Skins win. :biggthump

=================================

I have this football right. Now i can only use this football once a year. ONCE!!! so i save it. It works for 24 hours for good football stuff to happen. I can only use it ONCE every football season.

THe good news. I have not used my lucky football yet this season. To use it i must proclaim i am using it and place it on, near or behind the tv(depending on the type of TV ofcourse).

I stressed many games deciding whether to use it or not but i had hope throughout the entire season that we would make the playoffs. I saved it for the playoffs. I was about to use it in the eagles game but i said NO we need this for the playoffs. I almost used it early in theseason but i held strong.

Now in the playoffs. I won't put it up before a game starts because i feel that we may not need it. The power of the ball is not all great. It works to a certain limit. No amazing 1 minute comebacks but if there is a last two minute drive that we need to get into field goal range to win the game it is money. I can put it up anytime. I will save it as long as i can but if things look grim it may come out sunday.

I am saving it for the superbowl and will put the football up before the game so we have good luck the entire game. That is if my skins can make it to the super bowl on their own without the power of the football

I am usually in the chat room during game days. I will take advise on whether to put up THEE ball and have consulted with friends throughout the season. I mean i call them up and say "is this the time for the ball?".

Re: Superstitious about victories?

I think superstitions are kinda silly. A Redskins win or loss will not be based on what you eat or drink or what you wear for a game only the Redskins determine a win or loss. Once I realized this I quit my superstitious behavior.
