What's In a Name?

I know we did this thread a ways back. But I can't find it, and we have several new members here since then.

So tell us what's the story behind your Warpath name? How did you pick it?

For example, "BrudLee" what's that all about? And Mattyk72??? Seriously though, I, and am sure many others would be curious as to how names like TheMalcolmConnection, FRPLG, Offiss, and Backrow came to be.

Re: What's In a Name?

FRPLG
Given to me by the biggest fattest funniest sonofabitch I knew in high school.
I am a short guy but was a pretty mean backyard football player back in the day. I used to play a modified kill shot safety ala Sean Taylor without actually being you know black, tall, fast, or super athletic. Otherwise I was the spitting image though. But I digress. Anyways I used to do things like club WRs in the head who were running the sideline so I could push them out of bounds(in our rules when a guy went out of bounds he was done for the play) or trip a guy in the middle of a crossing route. Usually everyone took such gestures in the competitive manner in which they were meant except when we would chest up and find some rival neighborhood team. Usually in such cases the meeting of the minds would meet before the game to sync up the often conflicting neighborhood rules and we always got our out of bounds deal included. First time I'd club a guy in the head usually started a mini-tussle. Next time I tripped a guy there might be a actual throw down. Somehow I always came out with no bruises while other's had bloody noses and such though. Lucky me I guess. :cool-smil The games would usually continue and I'd clean it up but WRs were always waiting for me to do something and that took most out of the game. Anways to make this now long story short our big fat funny enforcer guy (bffeg) once said I was like a short nasty firey plug. I guess he meant fire plug but we all laughed and it stuck enough to become FRPLG since fireplug was taken when I got my first AOL name back in the day.

P.S. bffeg was also maybe one of the best guys I have ever known. One of the few people I wish I was still in touch with. He did have a tragic mental flaw though. Hailing from NY he was a major Giants fan. Given time I would have converted him I believe. He was a smart dude and smart dudes don't get gaga over the Giants. They look for winners like the Skins baby.

True story: In a project In english he and I actually taught our honors English class how to play a classic '85 Chicago Bears 4-6 defense. We chose a neutral team rather than duke it out over our own teams. Funniest day I have seen watching 16 year girls with zippy clue trying to cover bffeg simulating Walter Payton. Almost peed my pants. I played Ditka.

BrudLee 01-05-2006 06:55 AM

Re: What's In a Name?

True story.

My last name is "Lee". My first name is... "William". Get it?

Me neither.

As an infant, my then eighteen-month old sister called me her "Baby Brudder", and so my nickname became "Brud". I never lost it, and she's still walking around, unmolested. So the next time someone complains that life isn't fair, you send that son of a bitch my way and I'll straighten them out.

Re: What's In a Name?

My name is Chris Payne. I went to George Mason University. The school assigned usernames to everybody in the style of [first initial][last name][sequence number]. I was assigned cpayne5. The username has stuck for simplicity purposes.

Re: What's In a Name?

Sean Taylor told me that if I didn't use this nickname he would kill me by osmosis.

Seriously though, my roomate in college Marcus started calling me Malcolm and we played a lot of intramural football. I played QB and Marcus was WR for our team. Whenever I threw for a touchdown pass, it was "The Malcolm Connection".

Re: What's In a Name?

I wish I had a cool story but I don't.

Way back when I needed a username and I just used my name Matt with my last initial K, threw in the Y in the middle to make it flow better and used my birth year at the end.

I use matty dread more often now on other boards as my little tribute to Bob Marley.

BDBohnzie 01-05-2006 10:10 AM

Re: What's In a Name?

BD stands for Big Daddy, one of my nicknames. Bohnzie is another one of my nicknames...so instead of having such a long screen name, I shorted Big Daddy to BD and plopped it on the front of Bohnzie and became BDBohnzie.

LOL. Well, when I first joined this site I went by the nom de plume of Smootsmack. I just liked the way it sounded. I wouldn't say I was a huge Smoot fan, but I did like having him here. And I really liked his energetic personality. Plus I figured if any Redskin would be here for a while, it would be Fred Smoot.

I was wrong.

The acronym TAFKAS was decided by the people of the Warpath in a poll once Frederico decided to part ways with us.
