how this is true: ferguson to ramsey + draft picks

Posted at Packerchatters.com is a little trade rumor involving Robert Ferguson
and a draft choice going to the Washington Redskins for quarterback Patrick
Ramsey and a couple draft choices.

Is this viable? Maybe. Ferguson has done little to endear him to the Packers
while Ted Thompson has stated a need for more draft choices this year. But do
the Packers really need Ramsey? What if Brett Favre comes back? Would Ramsey
even get playing time ahead of Aaron Rodgers. Something to think about.

Probably about as true as our trading Arrington suggestions.

they drafted rodgers pretty high last year. i doubt that they would bring in ramsey.

Most teams field three QBs. I would think that if Brett doesn't retire this year, he will the next. Say Rodgers doesn't work out, I could definitely see Ramsey being used in that spot.

I'm not one who overvalues Ramsey but there's no way I would trade him AND draft picks for Fergy. This sounds like wishful thinking on someone's part. Ferguson "has worn out his welcome" according to the website. We'll keep our draft picks, thanks. Even if the Skins wanted Ferguson, which I doubt, the best they would offer would be a straight up deal, IMO. Remeber that Ferguson was the guy that Favre blamed that interception on for not going after the ball, I think against Carolina. Does that remind anyone of a certain Redskin?

Wait, did the person say that WE would trade our picks?!

OHHHhh, if that's the case, then screw that.

Re: how this is true: ferguson to ramsey + draft picks

From PackerChatters.com:

"Robert Ferguson, only 25, is already being written off as a lost cause by many Packer faithful. His inability to stay healthy combined with his disturbing reluctance to fight for the ball has people flat out saying that we should part company with Ferguson. He is scheduled to make a base salary of $2.1 million, and has $2.8 million in pro-rated signing bonus still due to him, so the Packers could cut him, eat the signing bonus, but save the salary so it creates a wash.....we neither gain nor lose any salary cap advantage by cutting or keeping him.

Many people never forgave Robert Ferguson for being selected instead of former Badger Chris Chambers, who has been a much better pro. Others see Ferguson as an example of Mike Sherman's incompetence as a GM. But regardless of their agenda, the facts remain that in four years Robert Ferguson has not demonstrated an ability to be anything other than a #3 or #4 wide receiver and special teams guy. If Ferguson does not stay healthy through training camp, I'd say it's unlikely he'll make the team this year, and I'd be surprised if the Packers weren't looking for a way to trade him before then."

They did say that the Packers would give up A draft choice with Fergy (per the rumor) so we can't rule out the possibility of the Skins looking to move up in the 2nd round, although now I think I am engaged in wishful thinking.

We have enough garbage as it is. No room for more garbage. Sorry Ferggy.

p.s. The "Often Injured" position is currently filled by TJ.

Re: how this is true: ferguson to ramsey + draft picks

That would be a horrible trade. Why would we trade Ramsey and draft picks for a guy that has been in the NFL for 5 years and he has 1,546 yds. Ferguson is more of a #4 wr than anything.

Re: how this is true: ferguson to ramsey + draft picks

I wouldn't trade Ramsey straight up for Ferguson. Much less throw in some picks. Ferguson has been nothing in the league mostly because of injuries. He's an average WR3 on a terrible offensive team at best. No thanks. Now...Ramsey for Walker might pique my interest. Never happen though.

Re: how this is true: ferguson to ramsey + draft picks

why on earth would we want to trade ramsey for someone like ferguson when we could sign any number of free agent wideouts (k robinson, randle el, givens, lloyd) who are at least as good and not have to give up anyone?
and why take someone who is oft injured and has suspect hands

if we are gonna trade ramsey, at least pick up a def end, offensive lienman or better still, some draft picks
