14 Team Playoff
I'm not sure if this was discussed but I don't see what the big deal is with expanding the playoffs from 12 teams to 14 teams is. When the league expanded the playoff teams from 10 to 12 in 1990 there were 28 NFL teams and the percentage of NFL teams that went to the playoffs at the time was ~42.9%. Right now there are 32 teams and only 37.5% of the teams go to the playoffs. If the playoffs was expanded to 14 teams then ~43.8% of the teams would be going to the playoffs.
I guess the only gotcha would be that only 1 team would get a bye week in the playoffs in each conference but is that enough? |
Re: 14 Team Playoff
with 14 there's a much higher chance of teams with lossing records getting in.

Re: 14 Team Playoff
keep it at 12
only the best teams should get in |
Re: 14 Team Playoff
keep it at 12
only the best teams should get in
i agree, with a 12 team playoff, every game is important. teams with losing records should not get a chance to win the prize |
Re: 14 Team Playoff
I like it the way it is now.
14 teams would only water down the competition. I like the idea that teams can win 9 or 10 games and not get in. |
Re: 14 Team Playoff
Yeah it would water down the playoffs. It would of helped us in 2001 when marty was the coach. We could of suprised some teams the way we played the 2nd half of the season. But I agree keep them at 12 dont want it to be like the NBA where almost all teams with a winning record makes it in.

Re: 14 Team Playoff
the set up now is as close to being perfect as we are going to get.earn your way in and NO losing record teams get in

Re: 14 Team Playoff
Going to a 14 team playoff starts to make it seem like the NBA or NHL where the regular season doesn't matter.. Leave it as is..

Re: 14 Team Playoff
Nope....keep it at 12.
