Dolphins on The Edge

Why do the Dolphins want Edgerin James? Didn't they draft Ronnie Brown with the 2nd pick last year and had him backed up by a guy named Ricky?

Plus how did they jump up into all these preseason top five list after not even making the playoffs?

(On a side note, everyone should support Woody Paige. Today on Cold Pizza he ranked the Redskins as the 4th best team in the league going into next year)

It was Skip who had us beating the Hawks, and Woody dogged our team throughout the playoffs. He only has that change of "heart" because we got the OC that he wanted to go to Denver. I hate that alcoholic wind bag. I would rather him take us off his list, so that when we do get far into the playoffs, he won't be able to say "I told you so" like he does every time one of his predictions is even remotely accurate.

Well, they won six in a row to finish 9-7. They probably did better than most expected.

Where have you heard they're interested in E. James? I know that Ricky is probably on his way out, and could be used for trade bait. If they seriously have plans for James, it never hurts to have two solid running backs.

Then again, it could all be pre-draft 'mixed signal' strategies by the 'Fins and nothing more.

The Dolphins are a team right on the brink of becoming very good. But they have Ricky Williams AND Ronnie Brown, so I dont really understand that. If I were them, I'd be going after a quality quarterback, because they are team that can win now, in my opinion.

Re: Dolphins on The Edge

I thought it was more a case of Edge being interested in the Dolphins since he's from South Florida, not necessarily the other way around.

As for Ricky, I hear he's on the trading block. Possibly to move up and get a QB such as Jay Cutler.

Another possible scenario would be to trade Ricky to Houston for Carr, and Houston drafts Young....

i think you are right about edge ginning up support but i also think williams will net no more than a 4th rounder due to his baggage, no matter what his stats..

but if you look at the way saban coached at LSU he rotated his backs and would love to have both edge and brown. he is either going to be a genius or is going to learn a harsh lesson about the nfl cap realities. but the guy can flat out coach. the pats will be challenged this year and gone will be the rep of miami folding every december. notice that was not the case this past year. that was a warning shot from saban to the rest of the nfl.

for the life of me, i cannot see the skins taking rickie in any trade., he is no riggins. look at the effect their substance of choice causes..

alcohol causes rage. it is the number 1 risk factor in spousal or child abuse
pot causes lethargy and lack of ambition. tell me when you read about the first case of someone smoking pot and going on a violent rampage (unless it is laced with pcp or some other substance)

tell me again why we want a (former?) admitted pothead on our team to bash heads and get key first downs?

thing about dolphins is they have an aging average qb (frerotte) and no qb for the future (unless you consider rosenfels that which he really isnt)

Re: Dolphins on The Edge

I think getting bumped by James again might push Ricky Williams over the edge (so to speak)...

Williams was supposed to be the top RB that year, but we all know how that turned out.

With all due respect do you think the Redskins are a bunch of squeaky clean guys? I mean have you seen the Hungry Man commercials with Clinton Portis. Guys fricking high as a kite (thats probably why hes eating all those hungry man dinners). Hell Portis's 20 pound bulk can probably be partly credited to having the munchies. What about Sean Taylor? He's been a model citizen.

Look the fact of the matter is that the players on our team (and around the league, a la Ricky) sometimes live life on the edge. As far as I'm concerned they can smoke as much pot as they want, drink as much as they can, and snort to their hearts content. As long as they don't hit women, molest kids, kill somebody, or God forbid cause problems in the locker room, I could care less about what they do off the field. Trust me as far as problems among players go, being a pothead ranks among the least problematic.

Just ask Michael Pitman who purposely ran his hummer into his wifes sedan while their kid was with her in the car just after the couple had a fight (if anyone deserved to get spit on it was him). Anyway sorry if I might have came off as attacking you. I was just trying to prove a point that we shouldn't consider a player for the fact that hes a stoner.

And to answer some of your questions I do not drink or smoke (or snort).

Living in SW Fl, I get a lot of play on the 'fins. Ricky plays because he owes the fish 8m. If not, he would still be on the worldwide Dopeboat cruise. No doubt, he has talent, but as soon as he can figure out how to evade the Dolphins army of accountants, attorneys, and equally forbiding army of child support cases, he's gone! Not our kind of Guy
the fins are getting props for coming a long way in one season. by all appearances, good coach, good progress (left for dead last season, much like us), making good moves to the coaching staff in the off season.
