Abraham

Jets | Abraham wants out
Wed, 15 Feb 2006 06:04:01 -0800

Rich Cimini, of the New York Daily News, reports <A href="http://www.kffl.com/team/27/nfl">New York Jets DE John Abraham, confused by the direction of the organization and upset that it seemingly doesn't consider him part of the long-term plan, has told friends that he wants to play elsewhere. "He wants to get the hell out of New York," a person close to Abraham said Tuesday, Feb. 14. "He's pretty upset." The Jets have until Feb. 23 to decide whether to use the franchise tag on Abraham for the second straight year. The thought is the Jets will use the tag for the purpose of trading him, but there are serious salary cap implications that might force the Jets to simply let him hit the open market.

Re: Abraham

i hope he hits the open market and we don't have to trade for him. That way getting him wouldn't cost us a player, unless it was Ramsey, then i wouldn't really care.

I heard that was the plan Ramsey for Abraham straight up

only problem being that onthe free market there will be bidding. with a trade the salary parameters are usually worked out before.

They need a new CBA before any blockbuster deals. Plus, how the heck could we afford Abraham?

Re: Abraham

he wants more than we can afford. he's the guy that said "let the bidding begin" remember ;) He could help, but he whines to the media about every little problem he has and really does want tons and tons of cash.

If he wants big money let him go, if he wants a ring bring him to DC!!!
Simple equation these days, thank the lord!

Re: Abraham

what about abraham for arrington?

we would have to sign to a long contract with a huge bonus which could cause future cap hell.

I would like to see this trade only if arrington decides he doesn't want to be here. Arrington's current contract would work for the Jets this year but both teams should worry about getting under the cap before making any big deals.

Re: Abraham

The NY stations believe Abraham will be released the Jets don't want to incur any possible salary cap implications that may incur with franchising him.

I seriously doubt he will ever be a Skin, he's more of a money guy, than a win guy.

no way, arrington's contract is a cap nightmare and JA's will be as well. being 30mill over the cap and taking a huge dead money hit just to bring another huge contract to the team is a complete no go.

Re: Abraham

Looks like the Jets franchised Abraham earlier today, which could still mean they have a trade strategy in mind. It just won't be with the Redskins.
