Another Off-Season Drought Thread
Alright for the last 11 days the only story in the Post has been 'Wayne Won't be a Redskin.' That was fine on Feb 4 but its now 11 days later and I have no new good information. All the other local papers sporadically post stories and the Times isn't doing much better than the Post. To be frank, this forum has been a sort of a godsend but being ADD I can only be entertained for so long.
Does anyone have any sites with good off-season material besides the normal mediums (ESPN, NFL Rumors, SI.com, Fox-Sports, etc) or am I doomed to learn that Wayne won't be a Redskin for the next month? |
Re: Another Off-Season Drought Thread
the reason there aren't any stories is because it's the offseason. There's almost nothing to talk about, unless you want to hear about players getting some r&r and spending time with their families.

Re: Another Off-Season Drought Thread
Yeah I know what you mean. I've been a lifelong Redskin fan for the most part (age 4 or 5) but at the same time I've only been an Offseason Warrior for the past 7 years so I'm use to the drought. However theres always some good sites with free information. Of course ESPN always gives me a free month of their insider each year so thats cool but I'm waiting for the draft.
Anyway heres my contribution to those looking for offseason info even if it deals with R&R. Re: Another Off-Season Drought Thread
The month between the super bowl and the start of free agency is a dead time in the NFL. Things will pick up as soon as free agency starts.
The Scouting Combine is next week also so that should create some news. |
Re: Another Off-Season Drought Thread
wait until 3/3 dude. then watch danno go.

Re: Another Off-Season Drought Thread
Yeah, I hear ya. Its been a pretty boring month. But at the same time, Its been nice to relax for a little while.

Re: Another Off-Season Drought Thread
Not only is it the off-season but it is the off-off-season. The coaches take their vacations, etc. The combine will be coming soon, though and the drama over CBA extension should heat up in the next couple of weeks. I intend to watch the combine on NFL Network, make some notes, and post my earthshaking insights for all to read. This year I plan to keep the sound off so that the comments by Mayock et al don't prejudice me.

It isn't about football but this article on The Dream is about the best thing I have read since we beat the Bucs in the playoffs.

Can we say: Made for Court TV? How about ESPN - ALL NFL Access? |
Re: Another Off-Season Drought Thread
They say Wayne will not be available, but I have not given up on him yet. I really dont think that the Colts can afford to franchise him with their others players they are paying. We will see. I am sure Danny boy is just sitting back waiting on weather they sign him or not.

They've talked themselves into a corner. If they dis Wayne now, there will be a media frenzy. I think they should think twice about letting James go, however. Without a solid running game, they might become the Philadelphia Eagles. Of course, they couldn't run the ball in the playoffs anyways, so maybe they figure they're not losing that much by going with a younger back. At any rate, it seems certain they will sign Wayne to a long term deal. The franchise tag is tricky because 1)you create bad blood with the player and his people, 2)you're right back in the same place next season, and 3)it creates a large cap hit. |
Re: Another Off-Season Drought Thread
they'll have a solid running game regardless of the RB cause peyton is throwing.

I thought so too, but look at Manning's numbers when James went down. He was horrible, except when compared to his rookie season. He had 26 TDs and 23 INTs. Not only that but they sucked even though Dominic Rhodes had a 1000 yard season. Of course that was also the year of the infamous "Playoffs?! Don't talk about playoffs! You kidding me?! Playoffs?! I just hope we win a game! Another game!" Jim Mora Sr. sound bite. E. James is a keeper, unfortunately the Colts don't have the loot. I'm guessing if they lose James they'll draft a RB. |
Re: Another Off-Season Drought Thread
james is good, but they'll have a shot at guys much better than rhodes in the 1st and 2nd round. Maybe maurice drew (fastest rb available)... either way, 5mill a year for an rb is too much when you got two #1 WRs and a 100$mill QB strangling you.
