If You Owned the Redskins what would you do?

Now I am not trying to started a new post for the hell of it! I really like to hear from some of you on the CBA and how it works in regard to you if you owened the team. Dan S. is a smart man who has made a lot of money right? Well what is the best thing for him and the team he owns to do. Get a CBA done and cave in on sharing revenues with small market teams? Let the CBA end and take the deep hit of the cap this season with better days in season to come. What is the best for the Washington Redskins long term? Many of you are really into this while some of us are not up to speed. What is the best way to go and why?

if a cba was done then we'd be in good shape. If the cba doesn't happen in the next 48 hours, i'd probably let my team suffer this year, then reap the rewards next season when there isn't any salary cap.

with the skins being the #1 sports franchise in the world right now,dan snyder has everything to gain by holding out.the 2005 team will look totally different from the 2006 model.as well as the 2007 team.the skins will suffer for one season then reap the rewards for an uncapped league.plus all revenue the redskins franchise accumulates will go directly into snyders pockets.you know the old saying the rich get richer.....

I have to say, I would have just sucked up the revenue sharing. He makes a ton of money as it is, there's no way it's worth mortgaging the success we had last season. I don't like the fact that he and a few other owners have been major roadblocks for the deal.

Anyway, that's basically irrelevant because apparently he won't back off. So, next year will be uncapped and then there's supposed to be a lock out. That really sucks.

if the redskins become the yankees, the value of the nfl as a whole goes down, teams start getting seperate tv deals etc and it might actually hurt the skins financially long term. It really depends on how fans of the nfl as a whole react to the haves and have nots.

i'd get a new cba done, cause if the union goes kaput/lockout and the nfl goes to court, it could REALLY lose... then again, without a draft, maybe the haves would be better off (being able to sign at least 4 top ten picks a year)

If i could see 20 years down the road it'd be a much easier decision. I wouldn't cave on revenue sharing without some provision of how my stadium debt was going to get paid off though.

I agree with his point about local revenues - why should the Cardinals (who do NOTHING to promote their team) get the benefit of the (often shameless) promotional efforts of the Skins?

Maybe they should distribute revenues according to how much each team SPENDS. I have a feeling a lot of these low-revenue teams don't spend the money, either.

Re: If You Owned the Redskins what would you do?

Currently the skins have a big money owner that spends like crazy but this is not necessarily a permanent situation. There is always the possibility that DS could take a bath on the 6 flags deal and some other financial problems (I'm just speculating) could happen causing him to cut back on spending or even sell the team and suddenly have the skins more like the Pirates than the yankees.

What I'm saying is that the skins situation today is not necessarily what it will be in 10 years so as an insurance policy for the future the skins (and all teams) should do whatever is necessary to keep the NFL from turning into MLB when it comes to revenue sharing (or lack thereof).

Everyone is too greedy. Including Danny.

Everyone loses.

I wouldn't call Danny greedy. Ambitious maybe, but greedy, probably not. You should read in one of the articles about the CBA in how Dan is willing to basically forego a BILLION dollars over the next 25 years to get a deal done and save the team for NOW. I mean that SERIOUSLY is loving your team and fan base.

Re: If You Owned the Redskins what would you do?

For my money, I wouldnt believe it if Danny was suddenly not greedy. Greed brings out the best and worst in people. But for Danny, the accumulation of wealth has allowed us to have Joe Gibbs back. It put us in the playoffs last year. It has allowed us to have a consistant, hard nose defense.

God Bless Dan Snyder's ambition.

Atleast he's not on the mic constantly. I like that he is a quiet owner. You know what they say, "Speak softly with a fat wallet."

Again thats assuming DS is the owner for the next 25 years.

I think Danny boy has had some rough season at the beginning, but is finally starting to get it as owner. I don't think there is anything that I would change with what he is doing. And on a side note, if there happens to be a lockout I may as well reserve my room in the nut house.

Let's assume he's not. He'll be out TWENTY-FIVE MILLION DOLLARS next year just so that he can have team stability. I mean I don't think we can wrap our brains around what a loyal thing that is.

You all need to put the players in that line as well! Reported on NFL Net work that the players [PA] wanted 60% of the gross and the Owners was 53% I believe. Upshaw said the two are so far apart that there is almost no way they will come together. The players are asking to much!!! So put Upshaw and Burnell and the PA as greedy as well!!!! :headbange

I guess what I'm saying is DS and all owners need to look beyond their own teams and work for league stability. If the league is stable and strong then the individual teams will also be stable and strong. Its a big picture thing.
