WARNING TO YOUNG SKINS FANS: Only buy old school
Well get the vasiline, good ole Ram Rod Life is getting ready to get a running start and is once again ruining my Redskin wardrobe. First it was Champ Bailey....yep, not 1 but 2 Bailey jerseys that I will never wear again, cost, roughly $125 total. Then, my favorite player. When we drafted LaVar I was thrilled. I ran out and ordered a custom made No. 56 "LaVar" jersey. I then got another "Arrington" No. 56 as a gift. Total cost, probably close to $150. Now Im down to my 2 Darrell Greens and my Riggins. That's it, done, never ever ever again! I don't care if Walter Payton returns from the dead, plays for the Skins, and runs for 2,000 yards in 3 consecutive seasons, I will never, ever acquire Redskin merchandise for any new era player again. Yep, next purchase will be a Gary Clark No. 84, a Monk No. 81, maybe a Dave Butz. Im broke, and Im pissed.

Dave Butz, there is a jersey I want to own. I also would like to have a Riggins, Monk, and Jacobey.

Re: WARNING TO YOUNG SKINS FANS: Only buy old school
You can take the Bailey one to a jersey shop and they can remove the Bailey nameplate and replace it with Springs.

Re: WARNING TO YOUNG SKINS FANS: Only buy old school
You want Old School? I want one of those Mitchell and Ness Sammy Baugh shirts, but WOW are they expensive! I want someone who does not know to come up to me and say "Who is number 33"? And I can say, "the only Skin to have his jersey retired!"

Re: WARNING TO YOUNG SKINS FANS: Only buy old school
Yeah, I was just talking to my buddy in Florida this morning and said the exact thing. Pretty soon my son's room will be filled up with ex-Redskins jerseys. Bailey and now Lavar. I will be going old school probably Darrell Green or Riggo.

Re: WARNING TO YOUNG SKINS FANS: Only buy old school
buy jerseys for role players like sellers... they stay around longer.
Moss and taylor and rodgers are safer bets too. go for guys that'd cost more to cut than keep for 3-4+ years. |
Re: WARNING TO YOUNG SKINS FANS: Only buy old school
Guess instead of getting a Cooley jersey, I should go get a Clint Didier or Donnie Warren jersey.

Re: WARNING TO YOUNG SKINS FANS: Only buy old school
i saw a mitchell and ness mark mosely on ebay that looked really cool

Re: WARNING TO YOUNG SKINS FANS: Only buy old school
You can't go wrong with Riggins. I like the idea of a Dave Butz jersey, back when weighing 300 pounds really meant something. That might have to be my next investment... in 2009, when this CBA and revenue sharing nonsense is gone and we can get back to playing (and watching) football again.

Re: WARNING TO YOUNG SKINS FANS: Only buy old school
It sounds to me like we may be entering some crazy alternate universe where wearing on of those personalized jerseys with your own name on the back is cool. Just the thought of that makes me want to grow a mullet.

Re: WARNING TO YOUNG SKINS FANS: Only buy old school
I am with you on this. I use to wear Steven Davis, then Champ, and now LaVar. I am in the process of getting a Cooley authentic, so I'll give it one more try. But I am definately going to invest in an old school of someone.
I have to say this : I will proadly wear my #56 Lavar jersey every now and then. He will always be a Redskin in my eyes. I have a feeling that we will see ALOT of #56 jerseys on Sundays!! I think we should wear them on opening day next season. |

first, i NEVER said either of those guys would stick around. and unlike them, taylor and rodgers are economically a bad idea to let go. of the other 3 you mentioned, 2 (bailey, davis) had contracts expire and 1 was obviously out of favor with this staff. the staff is stable right now and the rookie contracts are silly retarded to cut cause they're so cheap (and the players are young and talented). |
