Meet Adam Archuleta
4th in a series of new player profiles
Adam Archuleta Position: SS Height: 6-0 Weight: 223 Born: 11/27/1977 College: Arizona State NFL Experience: 5 Scouts Inc. Profile
He is an undersized SS who makes a lot of plays. He is not the same type of player, but the Rams try to do a lot of the same things Pittsburgh does with Troy Polamalu. He has very good straight-line speed for the position. He can come up on the line and match up with the TE in man-to-man situations. They will walk him up over the TE and he gets a nice jam, not allowing the TE to get a clean release. He plays more physical than his size. He flashes the foot quickness to align over a receiver in the slot. He is a solid zone safety -- has very good instincts. He closes well forward and to the sidelines in Cover 2. He is a smart player -- excellent instincts and can distinguish quickly between the run and pass. He anticipates well and shows excellent route recognition. He plays bigger than his size as a hitter -- can blow up ball carrriers and receivers when he gets them lined up. He did not play as well down in the box last season. He tends to get out-sized when blockers are able to reach him. He is not quick to shed blocks in run support. Because of his aggressiveness he does get out of position at times. He will overrun the ball in run support. He is more of a drag-down tackler -- better hitter than wrap-and-finish safety. Though he is fast, he can take some poor angles in coverage. He struggles in coverage as the deep safety. He does not have great ball skills in deep coverage. Overall, he is a high-energy player who flies to the ball. He loves football and plays with passion. He is a good Cover 2 SS and is effective enough dropping down in the box. He has the ability to make a team better in the back end. I really hope we get to see Taylor and Archuleta play together this season...that will be something! Rogers ,Taylor,Archuleta and Springs not bad secondary and we will need it if TO gose to the Boys! :dallas: |
Re: Meet Adam Archuleta
Taylor and Archuleta is like music to my ears. Now its definetly official no one is gonna want to go in the middle with those two out there.

we didn't need them when he was with the eagles and they had a MUCH more potent attack than the cowboys have. all TO is going to do is wreck them even more than he did to the eagles. |
Re: Meet Adam Archuleta
I like the idea of getting archie. I think we need one more CB though.
|
Re: Meet Adam Archuleta
Archuleta is a big hitter and plays well when near the line of scrimmage. Still, he can't cover for shit. Mark my words, he will get beat, and beat soundly by good slot receivers and TE. The Skins better be ready to mask his weakness.

Re: Meet Adam Archuleta
how come T.O. hasnt been released yet?anyone know.as far as archuleta,i am not sold on him.but being with the rams, that defense was so horrible that maybe ill wait alittle to judge.im sure coach gibbs and the boys have done their homework

Re: Meet Adam Archuleta
Personally, I'm not a fan of the signing. Ryan Clark was cheap and more than servicable. This money could have been spent in an area of need.

I agree. saden, arch is actually better on TEs cause he can jam them well and stick with them better than WRs. |

Looks like we're getting more than just a player, we're getting a playa |
Re: Meet Adam Archuleta
Archuletta is a proven safety. The Skins may have overpaid for him by a bit - - but what's new about that.
He is not good in coverage but he provides strong run support. The thing that scares me about this signing is that the Skins have a lot of money tied up in him and he has had back injuries for parts of the last two seasons. For someone whose game is to be a "big hitter", back problems are not a good sign. |
Re: Meet Adam Archuleta
