Redskins drawing interest in Ike Taylor
"Joe Bendel, of the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review, reports the Washington Redskins might have interest in restricted free agent CB Ike Taylor (Steelers). The Steelers offered Taylor a $1.55 million tender, meaning any team that signs him would have to give a first-round draft choice as compensation if the Steelers let him go."
I do not really understand what the first-round compensation means, but is Ike Taylor even worth that much??? |
Re: Redskins drawing interest in Ike Taylor
I'm going to guess first round compensation means a first round draft pick.

It does indeed mean that. I don't see us signing this guy. |
Re: Redskins drawing interest in Ike Taylor
From what I recall he isn't even that good, I think what they are asking for is way too much for him.
|
Re: Redskins drawing interest in Ike Taylor
How good is he? We are a little short of available first rounders right now, and a first round pick is some weight!
|
Re: Redskins drawing interest in Ike Taylor
I dont even see how that can be. We dont have a 1st rounder this year, they could take next years, but I just dont think he is worth that. We could draft a DB in the second round, he may not play this year, but I dont like using 1st round picks on DBs, unless they are truely studs, Bailey, Rodgers ect. You can get decent, hell pretty good DBs in the 2nd round.

Re: Redskins drawing interest in Ike Taylor
thats insane. screw that. we need to keep at least a couple picks.
|
Re: Redskins drawing interest in Ike Taylor
Dear God I hope there's nothing to this. A first rounder?.......for Ike Taylor?
Maybe they're just planning on ST being found guilty and they don't want all of their #21 "Taylor" jerseys going to waste. If we do this, I'm blaming the equipment manager. |

Re: Redskins drawing interest in Ike Taylor
i dont see it happening but it could be the same situation as lloyd. he too was a restricted free agent and would have required a first round pick if we signed him.
|
Re: Redskins drawing interest in Ike Taylor
dont know how he got that tender. maybe they are thinking about trading for him like b lloyd, who was also first round tendered

there must be an echo in here. :) |
Re: Redskins drawing interest in Ike Taylor
Just because a player receives the highest tender that doesn't mean a team necessarily has to give up a 1st rounder, if both teams come to an agreement on compensation (as with Lloyd) the deal can still happen.

Re: Redskins drawing interest in Ike Taylor
ike isn't that good. dyson is available and he's MUCH better (though he's had injury problems).

yeah, but he's not worth our 2nd either... we could draft better in the 2nd. so unless we can get him for a 6th rounder, he's not an option. |
