whos the starting positions at receiver?
who do you see being our starting receivers?.....i think we can all agree on santana moss being the number one but what about #2 #3 and #4. we have four i think really capable receivers making a big impact for the skins. so whos gnna bbe the ones to line up as the receivers and why.
my picks #1- santana moss- hands down super explosive and great playmaker ability and great adjustment to terrible balls thrown by brunell. #2-Brandon Lloyd- this guy definitley has playmaker ability i cant wait to watch him make spectacular grabs. i hope he doesnt become a distraction in the locker room. #3-david patten- even though everyone likes randle el, including me, i dont think hes better than david patten. david has speed, has good route running ability and i think he truley didnt get a fair shot. i think hes hungry to prove everyone wrong and feels disrespected with the skins bringin in two more receivers. i really think he has ability to be #2 receiver but the coaching staff would never put him there after putting all that money to lloyd and antwaan #4 randle el- great player on special teams great character and great all around athlete. i dont think he has enough ability as strictly receiver to be better than patten or Lloyd. i would love to see him in trick plays screen plays and especially returning the ball on special teams. i think thats where he makes most of his impact. |
Re: whos the starting positions at receiver?
i really dont think there will be a clear cut #1 unless its by title only. i think there will be sets with each receiver as the featured player. i think moss will be featured more than the others, but i think after moss, everyone is a #2.

Re: whos the starting positions at receiver?
1. Moss
2. Randle El 3. Lloyd 4. Patten 5. Thrash Randle El and Lloyd will be interchangeable at the #2, since we should be running alot of 3 WR sets I don't think there will be a big difference between the two. Randle El should handle more of the slot duties and Lloyd will probably play more wide. |
Re: whos the starting positions at receiver?
Moss, Lloyd, Randel El / Patten. Tharsh will be mostly special teamer. I think Randel El will be the 3rd, you cant pay a guy 30 million to be a number four. Really, I dont see how you can pay him to be a 3, but I think Lloyd is the better true WR.

Re: whos the starting positions at receiver?
I think Randle-El is better suited as a slot receiver but will probably get the number of touches that are indicative of a #2 WR.. Lloyd is more effective working from the outside in and on jump balls since he isn't as quick and elusive as Randle-El.. Since we are going to do predominantly 3 WR then Moss, Lloyd and Randle-El will all be starters..
1-Moss 2-Lloyd 2A-Randle-El 4-Patten |

exactly Patten is the number 4 and Lloyd will be the number 2 because he is more of a posesion receiver than randal and in 2 receiver set that yo udon't use that much you need someone who can get the tough yards. Randal is more of the slot receiver type. |

What about my man Taylor Jacobs?

What about him?? Unless he suddenly grows a pair and starts impressing people outside of practice, expect him to hit the waiver wire at some point this offseason. |

Re: whos the starting positions at receiver?
Moss #1
Lloyd #2 Patten/Randle El/Thrash #3 (depending on package) |
Re: whos the starting positions at receiver?
I think that with Saunders coming in, we might see more Spread Sets with all 4 on the line. The problem is that Coach Superior tried the same thing a few years ago and now Patrick Ramsey is in New York and still suffering PTSD.
What I'm still trying to noodle through is where Cooley will line up. You simply cannot take him out of a passing situation. He's too reliable as a checkdown or crossing receiver. Do you line him up in the backfield to pick up a blitz and/or break outside as a checkdown? Gonzalez lit it up in KC, so I know that Cooley's not going to be forgotten. The Skins have a LOT of weapons at their disposal right now. Al Saunders should be grinning like a kid at Christmas devising schemes to take advantage of everyone. Plus, if they each can line up in different slots at different times, they will drive D-Coordinators crazy. Isn't it nice to even be having this discussion for a change? |
Re: whos the starting positions at receiver?
Regarding Cooley I think we'll continue to line him up all over the place. I can definitely see him taking on a Gonzalez type of role in this offense under Saunders.

Absolutely, Cooley may not be as big, but I think he may create more problems because he is pretty quick and most LBs can not keep up with him. And how many safeties do you keep in the game to cover our WR, if they do that, Portis will run all over them. I can see is creating all kinds of problems for teams. |

But I see mostly a one-back set with Portis, 3 WRs, and Cooley in the traditional H-Back role. I honestly don't think Saunders is going to tinker with Cooley much. If it isn't broken, don't fix it. He's not going to force an entirely new system on the Redskins, he's going to adapt. We'll still see our fair share of 2 WR, Portis, Cooley, and Fauria too. Gotta run with power sometimes. |
Re: whos the starting positions at receiver?
its about time we give defensive coordinaters a hard time, its gnna be great!....itll be way too hard to gameplan for our team.what im even more excited for is madden 07......but i do hope we win games so our receivers dont become disgruntled
