# of Head Coaches and O/D Coord.
I just thought you guys might find this interesting. Here's the number of coaches on the redskins that have had previous nfl head coach, offensive coordinator, or defensive coordinator titles/experience (not counting one person twice in two positions):
Offense: 3 Head Coaches (including gibbs) Saunders Bugel 1 Offensive Coordinator Burns Defense: 1 Head Coach G. Williams 3 Defensive Coordinators: Blache Lindsey Gray So all together that's 4 previous head coaches (incl. gibbs) and 4 previous offensive/defensive coordinators. Damn that's a lot of experience, which does not even include the other assistants' "lesser" previous nfl experience. Some teams are lucky to hire just 1 coach with head coaching experience. |
Re: # of Head Coaches and O/D Coord.
Its all about the Benjamins. Uh Huh yeaauh HAHA j/k its all about connections and who knows who

Re: # of Head Coaches and O/D Coord.
Not to sound dumb, but who was Saunders a H/C for?
|
Re: # of Head Coaches and O/D Coord.
Saunders served as San Diego’s head coach from the midpoint of the ‘86 season through the ‘88 campaign.

Re: # of Head Coaches and O/D Coord.
thanks. I'm caught up on everyone else.

Re: # of Head Coaches and O/D Coord.
I bet it makes life easier for everyone on the coaching staff because they can always use their experience to draw from. And egos and differences should not get in the way because the other 5 previously has either worked with gibbs, williams, or blache.
I was quietly worried about how gibbs and saunders would work, but it appears to be going smoothly with them and also the others. Everything seems to be clicking right with the staff with the stuff I am seeing and hearing publicly so far. |
Re: # of Head Coaches and O/D Coord.
they dont call them the greatest coaching staff ever assembled for nothing

Re: # of Head Coaches and O/D Coord.
Gibbs obviously puts HIGH priority on individual character of players and coach's. I think besides the obvious attributes his people must have, he puts much thought into "the mix" of staff, and player. If they think you may not be a positive addition to the mix, you cannot come over and play! We ain't got NO TO's. Sage wisdom

Yeah, I think some have forgotten they added former Buffalo dc Jerry Gray like a week after Saunders. That's funny how they can hire a proven defensive coordinator like that and no one seems to take notice. |

Only the best money can buy.

[/quote] Pretty amazing how Gibbs is able to keep his coaching staff together. First when he comes back, he makes a couple of calls to some proven NFL coached (Bugel, Burns, Breaux) and they come out of retirement to come coach with him. Then he assembles a defensive staff that would have never stayed together more than a year under anyone else and keeps them together for 3 years+. Yes, Snyder is paying the money, but it is more than the dollars keeping these guys in Washington. |

Yeah I agree. Don't get me wrong though, the money being paid to them more than rationalizes why they are staying. But something else is helping to cancel out their ego (for the need of a higher job title): proven success in the past with gibbs and potential success in the future. |
Re: # of Head Coaches and O/D Coord.
You can mostly thank Mr Snyder for the money and gravity to the team.

Too many chiefs not enough indians?
