The team to beat; REDSKINS
Without making any prognostications, we are the sleepy warrior. I started this thread because I didn't want to tag along with the thread that said our O line is crappy. We are the team to beat because, we hardly get any credit around the leauge. By the way I think our O line rocks! And I think Rabach is better than what some of you said about him. A good center is priceless commodity. Dockery pancakes, Brown squashes and Samuels is not overrated. And ummm Jansen.
Back to why we are the team to beat. We have the best coaching staff by far. We have Portis, Cooley, Moss, Patten, El, Lloyd and ahhhem on the other side Daniels, Griffin, Salave'a(monster), Wynn, Evans and now Carter! Marshall, Washington, McCune(soon to be a household name for badass!) and need I go into our secondary.....you get the point. We are the team to beat because we have Joe Gibbs, chemistry, precision, execution, and commraderie. None of the other 31 teams have it. Hail! |
Re: The team to beat; REDSKINS
Our defense is downright scary. Seriously, if our playmakers and DT's stay healthy, we will be the defense feared by all. Offensively, we have versatility all over the place. Randle El, Cooley, a QB who can run, are enough to keep D's guessing. It has the makeup of a SB team. The one worry? Kicker.

I totally agree. This is going to be a gamble going into the season. The kicker can be a vital part of a team but a solid offense shold score whenever they are in the red zone so field goals should be at a minimum this year. |
Re: The team to beat; REDSKINS
I guess Mr. Novak isn't available anymore is he?

His problem is beyond 40, his accuracy drops substancially. We need a guy who can hit consitently from the 40-55 range.

Re: The team to beat; REDSKINS
We dont need a kicker, we'll score a TD on every drive. Its the same reason why we don't need a punter. Hall can kick PATs so were fine.

Re: The team to beat; REDSKINS
if Hall stays healthy we'll be fine, He's had the injury bug the last few seasons so lets all pray he is healthy and we won't have anything to worry about it

Re: The team to beat; REDSKINS
hall has been extremely unfortunate with injuries. Last year at the baltimore scrimmage he was perfect. I saw him kick atleast 40-50 times and he didn't miss one. HE was booting 60+ yard field goals consistantly. He started from 40 and worked his way back and didn't miss one. They were with one of the holding things though, not a place holder so maybe it was easier? He got injured and he dropped down. Lets hope for a healthy hall next year.

Re: The team to beat; REDSKINS
gtripp hit the nail right on the head.like any championship team,if the redskins can avoid major injuries, the pieces of the puzzle are all lined up for the redskins to have a very sucessful season

I've posted the stats in the past (several times), and they show (overwhelmingly!) that he is nowhere near as bad as people claim. The arguments that he is a bad kicker are completely unfounded. If you want to see a BAD kicking situation, see the years before Jon Hall came to DC. |
Re: The team to beat; REDSKINS
I guarantee you that at least 5 games this year will be decided by 3 points or less, even with our improved O. So Hall is a very important key to our season.

Re: The team to beat; REDSKINS
In regards to Hall, I think we all get worried because of his health issues since joining with us.
I know that I had noticed last season on kickoffs, that it looked like he would stumble a bit after every kick. Sort of limping a little. That worried me. It just look like it took everything out of him to kick it that hard. Where as he used to look like he could have done it 20 times in a row, without sweating. |
Re: The team to beat; REDSKINS
I definately think we are going to be a force to be reckoned with this year. All the haters seem to think we have a quarterback problem, but I beg to differ. If brunnel runs out of his "fountain of youth" juice than Campbell will be ready to step up and lead the team. If Hall is healthy, we should be fine. I still think we should have kept Novak, but I won't go there.

Re: The team to beat; REDSKINS
Hall in warm-ups.
I watched Janikowski warm up prior to the Raaaadarz game, and then Hall warmed up. No comparison. Janikowski was booming them, Hall trotted up to the ball and tried to scare it over the crossbars. He wasn't at his best all year long. But, hey, who is, after 20 plus weeks of FB! Maybe one of the two other kickers in camp can show something, and push Hall to perform better. |
Re: The team to beat; REDSKINS
Hall is my boy. I have clips of him doing 1) karate after a Taylor tackle 2) doing forward flips after HE tackled someone and 3) ALWAYS wearing hilarious sweatpants all the time.
What other Skin can you say that about? |
