Does Cooley Have To Change His Number?
Since Cooley has changed from a H-back/fullback to a Tight End.... does this mean he has to pick a number in the eighties or teens??

He's already officially listed as a TE, so I'd say no. |
Re: Does Cooley Have To Change His Number?
I dont think so, I think TE are allowed to wear #'s in the forties. For exapmle former Iowa standout and current Colt Dallas Clark wears #44.
HE should be fine, so place your order now. |

Re: Does Cooley Have To Change His Number?
Tight Ends are a real strange breed when it comes to uniform numbers because you can make an O-line men TEs or tackle-eligible for goal line situations.... and they wear numbers in the 70's. As long as TEs wear "skill" numbers as I would call them, I think they are OK. I mean Cooley can technically run one out of the backfield, so a number in the 40's is fine for that.

Re: Does Cooley Have To Change His Number?
These jersey number changes are such a hassle. Hopefully, Cooley will keep 47 which should not be a problem unless he wanted a change.

Re: Does Cooley Have To Change His Number?
I guess Cooley took a "40's" number because he came in as an H-back, not a TE, like he was in college. I am sure that the NFL will not give him an flax about the number 47.

Number allocations
* Quarterbacks: 1-19 * Running backs: 20-49 * Wide receivers: 80-89, 10-19 if all are taken * Tight ends: 80-89, 10-19 or 40-49 if all are taken * Centers: 50-59, 60-79 if all are taken * Offensive linemen: 60-79 * Defensive linemen: 60-79 and 90-99 * Linebackers: 50-59 and 90-99 * Defensive backs: 20-49 * Placekickers and punters: 1-19 p.s. The NFL is currently deciding whether the number system is necessary, and if not, to what extent players should be free to choose their numbers. |
Re: Does Cooley Have To Change His Number?
Also, once a number has been issued to a player, they won't take it away unless its a move from OL to TE or vice versa. Cooley doesn't NEED to change his number, therefore he most likely won't.

Re: Does Cooley Have To Change His Number?
Yeah, Reggie Bush is trying to wear 5 this season. Part of what the owners talk about is whether or not the system is still necessary.

Re: Does Cooley Have To Change His Number?
Only reason to change is if The Daniel wanted to make some more money selling new shirts!
Any truth to the rumour the doorbell at la mansion Snyder doesn't go "ding-Dong", it goes "Ca-Ching!"? |
