GMen's Peterson out for 2006
I don't have ESPN Insider, but apparently Will Peterson (CB) is out for the entire 2006 season with a back problem that continues to plague his young career.

Re: GMen's Peterson out for 2006
I saw that too. You never really hope the worst for any team, even your divisional foe. I didn't think their secondary was much from the get go, so maybe this isn't much of hit.
I think we ought to keep our fingers crossed too. We saw the depth issues we had last year when Springs/Rogers got banged up a little. |
Re: GMen's Peterson out for 2006
Injuries are the great equalizer in football. We look at the Skins on paper and instantly think Superbowl, but in reality their sucess will greatly depend on how they hold up health-wise. Every team is in the same boat. The Eagles were screwed up after the T.O. thing last year, but losing McNabb, really cost them more.

Too bad, so sad.
He's not that good anyway, but this has got to hurt an already questionable CB corps for the Giants. |

Shoot, they got Terrell Buckley. He's just as good as Will Peterson!

They were going to have a real solid CB group before Peterson went down. They nabbed Sam Madison and RW McQuarters in free agency. This injury to Peterson probably bumps RW from the nickel spot up to starter. They also drafted Corey Webster out of LSU with the 11th pick in the 2nd round back in the 2005 draft. He's big and physical, and he has the makings of being pretty solid. He'll probably get full time nickel duty. It's not a great CB situation but it's not a weakness either, even after the injury. |

Wait, I thought he was released 1-2 weeks ago or something. Maybe I'm just making stuff up, but I remember an article somewhere talking about how both of the Giants' "Wills" are off the team.

I think it was Will Allen that was released, wasn't it? |

I don't mind having a nickel corner starting against our #2s. We all saw how Walt Harris did and I would say he's on the same level as RW. Good thing the Giants don't have much of an interior defensive line. |

Yeah RW can be victimized, especially on really deep routes. Thing is, corner play goes hand in hand with DE play. Strahan and Osi tend to take a lot of pressure off those corners, so the Giants can probably get away with this CB situation. The only way we'll be able to take advantage of RW is if Strahan and Osi stay off Brunell's ass. Luckily we've got a couple of guys named Samuels and Jansen watching out for our QBs. :) |
