Reason #322 to Punch Lenny P. in the Mouth
http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/columns/story?columnist=pasquarelli_len&id=2500632
Filled with such gems as:
One element Campbell does have going for him, beyond his impressive physical skills-set, is that he was handpicked by Gibbs to, at some point down the road, stop the team's quarterback carousel. That gives him a meaningful edge over Patrick Ramsey, the last first-round quarterback taken by Washington before Campbell, in 2002.
Also giving him an edge - being on the Redskins roster, something Ramsey is not. And who can forget:
As for when Campbell gets there, well, it's still anyone's guess. The suspicion in Washington is that if Brunell were injured during a game, Collins, who has averaged just 3.4 pass attempts over the last eight seasons, would take over and finish the contest. If the injury sidelined Brunell for a game or two, the staff would prepare Campbell to be the starter.
Really? Before even the first day of training camp, the depth chart has that many nuances? This is a stone thrown into a placid lake. Lenny's trying to make waves against a team he has shown tremendous animus towards. What a jackass. |
Re: Reason #322 to Punch Lenny P. in the Mouth
he's just reaching at straws here. Straws with which he plans to suck down about 50 milkshakes tonight.
He's basically just saying that Campbell hasn't actually shown anything in a regular season game yet and he has nothing meaningful to add to the Skins situation. |
Re: Reason #322 to Punch Lenny P. in the Mouth
Lenny P isn't alone. That's exactly what the Sirius NFL radio guys said. They felt Collins could probably manage the game for them better since he understands the offense and is a veteran. But if it's going to be more than two games, it's time to start the future (their words.)

Re: Reason #322 to Punch Lenny P. in the Mouth
That article also sucks because it makes it seem like Campbell is pissed that he's not starting now. I strongly doubt that is the case.

Re: Reason #322 to Punch Lenny P. in the Mouth
His time will come soon enough.

Re: Reason #322 to Punch Lenny P. in the Mouth
coach gibbs will not put a rookie into the fire, especially since the skins have a chance to do very well this year. history repeats itself and coach likes his veterans

Re: Reason #322 to Punch Lenny P. in the Mouth
wtf? Something tells me the tone of the article doesn't match the tone of those interviewed.
|
Re: Reason #322 to Punch Lenny P. in the Mouth
The mention of Ramsey and the loyalty issue seems rather irrelevant to the article in my opinion. As for whether Collins or Campbell would come in for Brunell should he get hurt during a game, I can see Collins finishing up a game. But let's see how far along Campbell is by the end of the preseason.

Re: Reason #322 to Punch Lenny P. in the Mouth
Well obviously Collins would fill in Brunell now, let's wait til Campbell has at least gone through training camp in this system before we jump to any conclusions.

Re: Reason #322 to Punch Lenny P. in the Mouth
the article isnt that bad if you actually read the whole thing...but lenny should still be punched

Re: Reason #322 to Punch Lenny P. in the Mouth
In fairness, Lenny P. may be inferring that Gibbs would stay with the injured quarterback policy he used back in the 1990-91 season: If Mark Rypien got knocked out of the game, Jeff Rutledge would take over and finish the game, but Stan Humphries would start the following week if Rypien couldn't come back.
Of course, it might have helped if Lenny actually mentioned this, but Gibbs did, in fact, employ this strategy before. |
Re: Reason #322 to Punch Lenny P. in the Mouth
They will likely go into the season Brunell, Collins, Campbell in that order. Like the Eagles did last year, however, if they need a guy to win the game in the 4th Quarter due to injury, I hope they roll with Campbell.

Re: Reason #322 to Punch Lenny P. in the Mouth
Lol, I didn't think the article was too bad. Granted, I don't like the writer too much but I didn't see a problem with this article....

Re: Reason #322 to Punch Lenny P. in the Mouth
I definately see colins finishing a game if brunell gets hurt. I would think that gibbs would put a vet in there to close a game. But if brunell was out for the season I would think that as long as it isn't in the first 4 weeks campbell would be in there,.

Re: Reason #322 to Punch Lenny P. in the Mouth
By my count your off Brud, this is actually reason #323 to punch Lenny P. in the mouth. Did you remember the whole pie truck incident? Thanks to Lenny P., those pies will never make it to the needy children that they were being donated to. For shame.
