BENGALS TAKE BROOKS IN "TURD" ROUND Two league sources advise us that the Cincinnati Bengals have selected linebacker Ahmad Brooks in the third round of the Supplemental Draft. It figures. Perhaps Marvin Lewis and the Bengals should change the name of the third round to the "turd" round, since they've now used three consecutive picks in round three on guys of questionable character. In the 2005 draft, Lewis snagged receiver Chris Henry, who has since been arrested four times. In April 2006, Lewis took defensive end Frostee Rucker, who has faced multiple accusations of misconduct with females. Now, it's Brooks -- who was kicked off of the Virginia Cavaliers after his junior season. Jason Cole, formerly of the Miami Herald and now of Yahoo! Sports, reported that Brooks failed multiple drug tests while in college. Nice job, Marvin. We'll see how the kid does. |

Lewis must like badasses or something

Re: Ahmad Brooks taken by Bengals, Rd. 3
The attitude of that team had them on may "Might Drop" list. Now they're lower.

Maybe he feels more at home with a team full of thugs. Maybe he has a plan to start drafting a lot of thugs so they can start a crime organization. |
Re: Ahmad Brooks taken by Bengals, Rd. 3
Brooks is a good pickup that would have been a first rounder if he could stay away from off-field issues and the bud. We'll see what happens.

Re: Ahmad Brooks taken by Bengals, Rd. 3
He's obviously looking for the next Ray Lewis, In more way's than 1.

Brooks did not commit any crimes, beside using drugs. He hasn't killed anyone, etc, so I feel Lewis is not even a close comparision. |
Re: Ahmad Brooks taken by Bengals, Rd. 3
I was actuley surprised because i'd figure some team would have wasted a second on him particularly the 49ers they needed talent and looked desperate but im glad they didnt bite but what surprised me as well is the jets ahve 2 second rounders next year one given to them by us ha but i guess mangini talked to groh and got negative remarks by broks former coach at virginia. If the redskins werent soo deep with potential talent at lb i would like to see them take a chance on undrafted lb dan dixon did you guys check out the stats on this guy damn.

Re: Ahmad Brooks taken by Bengals, Rd. 3
no way gibbs even considered this guy. he passed on randy moss when he had the chance (and TO) and both are PROVEN studs at a position that's harder to stock.
No one was going to waste a 2nd on him, and i think a 3rd might be too much. marvin liked his thug crew in baltimore, and now he's working on his new gang in big cinncy :P |
Re: Ahmad Brooks taken by Bengals, Rd. 3
To Brooks credit, he has passed like 5 drug tests in the past 10 weeks. I kind of hope he makes it in the NFL. Nothing disappoints me more than wasted talent. It makes you feel good when read about someone waking up one day and taking charge of their life. Not saying he has yet, but let's wait and see.

Didn't know that, but that is good for him. I am gonna root for him either way because he went to UVa, but again as 724 said, we will see. |

Well how many people did Ray Lewis kill before he was drafted? How many times did Lewis fail a drug test in college? Was Lewis ever kicked off his college team? Your probably right about the comparison this kid has the potential for so much more.:pimp: |

Your probably right about the comparison this kid has the potential for so much more.:pimp:
Ok so let me get this straight. Since Lewis did not really do any of those before he was drafted, and because Brooks did fail drugs tests and got kicked of his team, he will be "much more" than Lewis? You are implying that using weed and his issues with the team, will cause him to worst than Lewis, which would mean Brooks could be worst than a murderer. The main prob with Brooks is that he loves the reefer; how in the world is that gonna make him kill someone? You can not seriously sit here and tell me smoking weed makes you a thug and commit crimes, because that is untrue. Ricky smokes weed, has he killed anyone? Weed doesn't do anything that will make you commit crimes, it just makes you a pothead, which is far from a killer. I never said he would successful in the league, I just think he is a good player, and if he lays off the pipe he could be good in the NFL, but that is a big if. Again, Lewis is terrible comparision for Brooks, unless you seriously believe weed is some kind of gateway to worst things. If you seriously think that, then you need to stop watching government anti-drug commericals lol. |
