Cooley & Brunell scrimmage
I know it was just 7 on 7 stuff, but Cooley and Brunell really seem to be on the same page right now. With the WRs we have now on the outside, Cooley could really be primed for a big season.
As for Brunell, his throws were pretty accurate yesterday, and his zip seemed to be there. Let's just hope he can keep those legs healthy. |
Re: Cooley & Brunell scrimmage
They look like they picked up right where they left off. It's always good to have that guy you know will always be there to get that first down when you need it. Going into last season I thought Patten was going to be that guy, but it looks like it's Cooley

Re: Cooley & Brunell scrimmage
cooley seemed to be much farther down field for his catches also. Was any of his catches less than 20 yards?

Re: Cooley & Brunell scrimmage
I also think Robert Johnson(#87) looked real good, although it was against 2nd and 3rd stringers. Our TEs could all have a huge year.
I was also impressed with all of our d-line. Almost all of the ravens pass attempts would have been qb pressures if they were able to hit the qb.On the drive where Boller had 2 really nice completions to #11 and then threw a td, he would have never gotten any of those passes off except for the td. I taped the scrimmage and watched it again this morning and you can clearly see d-lineman within arm reach of Boller every time and they were pulling up to keep from hitting him. |
Re: Cooley & Brunell scrimmage
Yes cooley looked amazing yesterday. He pretty much ran the same route for 3 straight plays and still managed to get open down the middle of the field. We can definitely count on him for big gainers as well as those short check downs when we need some quick yards. Definitely could be among the top 5 TE's this year in terms of production.

Re: Cooley & Brunell scrimmage
Yeah, I was really impressed with Cooleys speed and route running yesterday. Saunders said he was going to get him more involved downfield and now I believe it. Brunnel was starting to look pretty sharp. No QB controversy for me!

Re: Cooley & Brunell scrimmage
Guys, I went to a Titans Practice the other day ( I live in TN) and it seems hard to me on the 7-7 drills to go to receivers. The D knows you are passing so the only thing open is TE's in the middle and check down RBs. The D plays back so WR don't get open much. The WR stuff will open up when the D thinks run on 11-11 stuff.

Re: Cooley & Brunell scrimmage
thats probably a pretty solid analysis from a closet totans fan

Re: Cooley & Brunell scrimmage
Brunell and all the TEs looked really sharp. Fauria and Johnson included. Lumsden plays fast. The WRs didn't do much in that scrimmage at all.

Re: Cooley & Brunell scrimmage
Did annyone else notice that Brunnell really hung Cooley out to dry on one of his last catches over the middle? I TiVod it, and played it in slow motion, if it were a real game, Cooley would have been decapitated. Thankfully the Ravens guy pulled up, but it really really could've been ugly!

Re: Cooley & Brunell scrimmage
Let's also consider that if that was a real game he might not have attempted that throw to Cooley for that reason.

There was one play in particular were Boller would have gotten WRECKED. |
I thought the same thing. There was one play in particular were Boller would have gotten WRECKED.
did you see the one where the d-lineman went into a baseball slide to keep from killing boller? if he hadn't done that boller might have been knocked out.

Re: Cooley & Brunell scrimmage
I would have said that at least 4-5 plays straight Boller would have gotten killed. Even the Skins second string defense played pretty well. Golston. Montgomery. You can bet on them.
