DC Divas win Championship
 

I know since it's NFL time, the women's league takes a back seat, but the DC Divas won the Championship Game (equivalent of the Superbowl) against OK City Lightning on Saturday Aug 5th 28-7. Check out the DC Divas at [url]www.dcdivas.com[/url]. Has anyone from the boards ever seen the Divas play?

I've never seen them play, but I remember briefly hearing about them a while back. They must be pretty good to win a championship, huh? D.C. Area women always seemed tougher to me than other cities (like say, Miami), so I guess it's not surprising.

I beleive I did about 2-3 years ago. Here in Roanoke we had a womens team and my buddies wife played on it. If you played when the DC team came to Salem and played I saw you. I also saw them play the baltimore team and the ladies on that team liked me :)

I saw the Diva play the Sports Junkies (4 guys from PG county that went from a local access cable sports talk show to morning drive on FM 106.7) in a charity game about a year or so ago. The Junkies put together a team of their buddies and associated friends, practiced for a month and completely destroyed the Divas. The game was not close and the junkies themselves actually played the skill positions like QB, WR, RB.

Not to sound too sexist, but in a sport such as football, that is almost purely based on strength and speed, it's not really fair to pit a team of all women, versus a team of all men. I'm familiar with the game that you're refering to, and while the Divas did have better coaching and organization, the Junkies did have some 250+ pounders on their team. The teams were dramatically unbalanced overall.

I also expected the Junkies have some bigger players and they did (but not by much). What I really found amazing is that the Junkies out executed the Divas. A team that was thrown together and practiced for a month was able to out execute a team that had been together for a few years. I thought the Divas would run ciricles around a bunch of guys that either never played football or had not played in years and that didnt happpen. Also if memory serves, the Divas challenged the Junkies.

I guess what I'm saying is that if the best woman's team gets crushed by a team of old, out-of-shape, non-football playing guys than it does not say much for how good they are. I can only imagine what a decent high school team would do to the Divas.

my second-cousin-in-law, Drunk Mike, played in that game for the Junkies. My guess is he downed at least a case of beer before he played.

they wear the burgundy and gold! I would watch that. I would watch senior citizen football if it were burgundy and gold and from DC.

Didn't anyone tell them that red on red is cursed? White on white is where its at.
