Re: Springs out likely till week 2 or later...
Oh come on. Where did you hear this? Have you been over at extremeskins reading one of their panic-filled threads? This is not what Bubba Tyer, Williams, or Gibbs said.
Don't post a thread like this without a link!:postcop: |

Re: Springs out likely till week 2 or later...
as long as he's ready by week 2 i think we'll be good. We need him to handle T.O. on week 2. Minny has Burleson and Robinson, and Robinson is probably gonna get suspended. Minny doesn't have anything i think our defense can't handle without Springs.

Nice COMEBACK MIGHTYJOE!!!
Take that biotch! lol. Thanks for the news and keep it coming. I still have faith that we'll be ok when the injury bug ends up at some other camp... |

I'm not worried about Burleson in week 1. |
Re: Springs out likely till week 2 or later...
lol oh yeah, he's in seattle now. I guess that leaves them with Travis Taylor and Troy Williamson. Like i said, nothing our defense can't handle. I hope.

Re: Springs out likely till week 2 or later...
The silver lining is that it looks like Portis has already begun his rehab. I think he's definitely going to be fine. I also like the fact that at least we know Springs will be out, meaning this will give plenty of time to see if any of the other DBs can be good enough to start week one.

Agree w/ Schneed.
I thought you knew how 'we' operated around here, MJG. :silly: |
Re: Springs out likely till week 2 or later...
A 1-1 start is really no big deal this year. A loss to Dallas will be unpopular around here, yes. But you've got a realitively easy 2-1 start this year. This is the main reason why I'm not worried. The pressure in that Week 2 matchup falls squarely on them, not us. Portis will likely be back, giving us a fighting chance. I honestly don't expect to see Springs before Week 4. Thats when the tough part of the schedule starts with games against Jacksonville and a road game @ NY, 2 games we can not afford to lose (unless of course, we beat Dallas).
The last game we played without Springs, I'd say we did pretty well defensively. And we didn't even have Kenny Wright then. |

I get what you're saying about how we should make sure guys are healthy before playing them again, better to have them 100% than to see them be nagged by injury all year. But I really don't like the line of thinking regarding the schedule being easy early on. In the NFL there is a very very fine line between winning and losing, and there isn't a single game on the schedule that can be taken lightly. If you don't bring it 110% against the Vikings, you lose. You have to get up for every single game, there is no taking it easy. There's no such thing as an easy 2-1 start in the NFL. |

However, I have no doubts that we will give 110% every game, at least in September. And I truely believe things have a way of evening out. If Minnesota somehow upsets us Week 1, we just go take it out on Dallas the week after. Same 2-1. If I was a gambling man, I would put this team at 2-1 after 3 weeks (barring some injury to Brunell or a prolonged recovery time to Portis). As far as the Vikings go, they are being hit hard, not only by the injury bug, but by other circumstances (Such as Koren Robinson's arrest). It looks like we are going to be closer to 100% than they will be. |
Re: Springs out likely till week 2 or later...
a loss to dallas early is bad tho because of division record. we dont want to start out 1 in the hole in the division. id expect kenny wright to start in his place, solid player.
