Lindy's Pro Football Magazine
I just picked up Lindy's 2004 preview, here's what they're saying about the NFC:

NFC East:

Eagles: Still division's best, although T.O. may be more trouble than he's worth
Dallas: Ready to make big move if they can establish a ground game
Washington::Gibbs can make magic happen if owner stays away
Giants: Could compete for no. 1 draft pick, which would make SD happy

NFC North:

Green Bay: Will Bret Favre ever retire? Doubt it
Minnesota: Root for any coach that works for Red McCombs
Detroit Peg them as this year's possible surprise
Chicago How can you not root for a guy named Lovie

NFC South:

Carolina: Can they win the close ones again?
Atlanta: It's all on Michael Vick's shoulders
Tampa Bay: Even Gruden needs a roster to figure out who's who
New Orleans: Saints aren't bad, but division's too good

NFC West:

St. Louis: They'll battle to hold off Seahawks again
Seattle: Defense must improve to win division
Arizona: Have to learn to win on the road
San Fransisco: This could get ugly...fast

Wild Cards:

Minnesota, Seattle

NFC Title Game

Green Bay vs. St. Louis

Lindy's-AFC Preview
Here's what Lindy is saying about the AFC:

AFC East:

New EnglandPatriots won't miss out after this title
MiamiThere's still something missing here
BuffaloBledsoe's play key to any success
Jets Pennington can't do it by himself

AFC North:

BaltimoreCan Boller get the job done?
CincinnatiMight take step back with Palmer under center
PittsburghDefense simply isn't what is used to be
ClevelandNo QB Controversy, but still not very good

AFC South:

IndianapolisPeyton's place still best spot in town
TennesseeNeed better running game to regain division crown
HoustonThis is the upstart team to watch in the AFC
JacksonvilleWill make things tough for division foes

AFC West:

Kansas City Slightly better defense is what's needed
Denver So, who will be their next great running back
OaklandRaiders will be better than many think
San DiegoChargers will be even worse than many think

AFC Wild Cards:

Tennessee, Miami

AFC Title Game:

KC vs. Baltimore

Jets Pennington can't do it by himself
Uhhh. Justin McCarrins, Santana Moss, and Curtis Martin puts Pennington by himself? I don't think so.

I don't understand why GB gets the credit they do. They're receivers are still awful, they have Ahman Green, but I simply don't expect a season like last year out of him again. I think they'll really slip this year.

SKINSnCANES 05-31-2004 12:18 PM

The Jets arent going to be that bad. They sitll have a lot of talent on defense and Santana Moss could be one of the top receivers next year. I wouldnt be surprised at all if he was the top receiver next year.

Green Bay hasnt faced a lot of competition in that division. And apparently the lions, while seemingly have picked up a ton of talent, are unhappy with Harringtons growth right now. Ahman scores everychance he gets. Id still put Green bay at the top of the division to.

Brett Favre can still get it done. When he is playing for something (i.e. the Monday Night game after his father passed away) he's still one of the best. As long as Brett plays for GB I will root for them and they have a chance to win.

And how do the Baltimore Ravens make it to the AFC Title Game? Which of those teams knocks off the Patriots? I don't buy his assessment of the AFC. I believe the Pats are the front runners to win the Super Bowl again this season. This is a team who did nothing but get better over the offseason. With the only major loss being Ty Law they'll be fine. One corner didn't make that team great...I thought Lawyer Milloy was more important to that team and look where that got them. Anyway, they add Corey Dillon and get Roosie Colvin back, they're going to be dangerous.

SKINSnCANES 05-31-2004 01:11 PM

yea well who thought anyone could knock off the bucs, expecially after their first game last season, then they didnt do crap. You never know what will happen but the Pats will be tough.

You don't consider Ted Washington an important part of NE's team? I bet they'll miss him more than anyone expects. I heard he actually called the defensive plays and was a real leader for that team.

SKINSnCANES 05-31-2004 07:53 PM

but they did a really godo jobs of replacign him though. They will lose his leadership but probably get more of a passrusher now. Hes not really a pass rusher. But no one runs past him.

A rookie with a weight problem. Skins - just like any player, even Canes can bomb when they get into the NFL. I think it's a big position for a rookie and I think it will hurt NE (thank god)
You don't consider Ted Washington an important part of NE's team? I bet they'll miss him more than anyone expects. I heard he actually called the defensive plays and was a real leader for that team.
Ted Washington was a big loss, but I think they more than made up for it with the players they picked up and drafted.

1) Keith Traylor will easly take over as run stopper for Washington
2) DT Vince Wilfork was drafted #1 from Miami
3) DE Marquise Hill at 6'-6", 300 pounds can play any position on the D-line and perfomed well for runner-up LSU. Great pick up.

Plus they already have one of the best DT's - 2 time Probowler DT Richard Seymour.
They drafted #1 last year highly rated DT Ty Warren who started his entire rookie year and played very well. Can play DE as well.
They also have a diamond in the rough in Dan Klecko who shows a lot of promise as a pass rushing DT.
New England is loaded at D-line for years to come. They will not skip a beat with the loss of Ted Washington, they are probably better and have more depth than last year. With the return of top LB Roosevlet Colvin (great pass rusher) they are going to be better this coming year. The problems with Ty Law will get resolved.

Defensewins 06-01-2004 10:22 AM

I failed to mention New England also filled their only two needs on the offense by drafting TE Ben Watson with their other first round pick. They also traded for RB Ccorey Dillon, which someone had already mentioned.

MTK 06-01-2004 11:10 AM

The only thing in New England's way is the SB letdown, plus a brutal schedule that features a lot of prime time games which equals short weeks afterwards.

Mark my words - Patriots will be lucky to see the playoffs!
