Redskins show no panic!

Another great post on ES. Makes me feel good to read this and have a little inside information.. GO SKINS!

A good friend of mine's job puts him on front of the redskins management almost weekly. Yesterday he visited Skins park for meetings. He called me lastnight to confirm that there was no panic at all with the team or coaches regarding the pre season situation.
He spoke with multiple members of management, coaches, Dan Snyder and even Mark Brunell, who all understand that half the fans are ready to hang themselves over the preseason performances. They all relaxedly confirmed that they cannot wait to unveil the new offense and show the world, and media especially, that the Skins are going to be a good team in 2006.

They asked him if he was going to the game that night and he said yes. I am happy to report that I will joining him that night, to which management replied, "Great. That is going to be a good night for Skins fans".

As you can see, I have not posted tons on this board, but mostly read and listen to the knowledge of our members. I tell you that the above story is absolutely true.

Go Skins.

Glad to see that team officials are confident. I sure hope that confidence is justified. I'll believe it when I see it Week 1.

I'm with you Schneed. Truthfully, unless we beat the Ravens into next week to the tune of 52-0, I'm skeptical. But we'll see.

Well, if you've listened what the coaches have been saying lately, the fact that they're not slitting their wrists over the preseason isn't all that surprising.

I rather us not reveal anything until week one so no one has any tape on us

I'm with you on this one. I mean if they got it down pat in practice why show it at all in preseason, maybe a variated version but not the real thing. Just like the coaches have been saying not to panic just because of scores of preseason games.

Normally I would agree with you on this, but not now that Saunders is controlling the offense.
We've been hearing how he never uses the same play out of the same formation more than once every few games and that his playbook is so big and complex. If this is the case, than why not open it up a little more so that the receivers and linemen can get used to some of his plays, even if they are the more basic ones? It seemed like every run was between the tackles for almost no gain; I don't see how that helps much.
I'm not saying he should have been busting out the trick plays or anything, but a little variety couldn't have hurt.

I am glad that they are confident, that's for sure. It does put me at ease a bit. But it's easy to forget that this is the NFL, and there's not a single easy game on the schedule.

The Vikings are coming off a 9-7 season. They're not going to be a joke on the 11th. I'm by no means scared of the Vikings, but I respect them as a tough opponent. So it's great that the coaches are confident that their plan will work, and I very much hope it does. But you can't beat the Minnesota Vikings on confidence alone. It's going to take serious execution.

I think the D will absolutely execute. I saw all kinds of signs against the Bengals that the D is ready to rock and roll. But I have seen nothing from the offense. So I'm not going to be an automatic believer until I see some signs of life. Fact is, this is a new offensive scheme, which takes time to absorb. I trust Saunders fully, but that trust is mainly a trust that he'll get this offense going EVENTUALLY. I don't trust him enough to think he'll come out with a top 5 offense in Week 1. If he does, I'll nominate him for greatest offensive coordinator of all-time. But until I see something, I'll believe it when I see it.

Exactly, I mean realistically speaking, it would be great if our offense starts rolling by week 3, but we will see. I sure hope it does. That being said, I still think our offensive talent and defense should be enough to take us to the playoffs.

The good news for us is, they played the Lions twice, the Packers twice, and the Rams and Browns. Talk about an easy schedule. They didn't beat the Giants by offensive firepower either. It was all returns by Koren Robinson and we all know he won't be attending.

All is well...remember, the Redskins offense practices against one of the league's best defenses every day.

The Vikings D will be a cakewalk compared to our own. :)

Sounds like a writeoff there, TMC.

I won't deny they've improved in the offseason, but losing Burleson AND Robinson is going to be huge. Chester Taylor nor Moore are good enough to beat us. It's that offensive line that they need to make their average players look better.
