Who got Buck Ortega?
 

I heard that someone signed him before the Skins could put him on the practice squad. Larry Michaels said on his show today we really wante d him on the squad, but we needed to keep an extra running back. I think this kid will be a real solid NFL tight end. So, who got him?

Why in the hell didn't they cut Nemo Broughton? or David Patten? Ortega deserved to make the roster. He made big plays and scored a TD. I really don't understand our logic in evaluating new talent. Now let's wait and see how long Thrash and Patten stay healthy.

Actually, he might get to play in Cleveland due to Mr. Winslow's annual trip to the IR.

thats sucks. could he have played any better during the preseason?

i thought we were short a 3rd TE anyway?

If that happened someone would be fired. Ortega isn't close to patten. I was also surpried that nemo (and fox) made the roster, but we already have two good catching TEs, so #3 would have to be a blocker (for 3 TE sets) and that just wasn't one of ortega's strengths, so he's gone.

He is not close to Patten... What does that mean he will not spend the year on IR or inactive?

i would havegladly taken buck ortega over nemo anyday, i think he is garbage and cant understand why they keep that guy around

I liked Ortega as well but I think the one thing working against him was his size. We know in this offense the TE has to be a blocker, and espically since Cooley will probably get the most receptions from that position. However that fact alone didn't have to be a permanent hinderence because he could always put on weight. Maybe he'll do well in Cleveland, and might even get a chance to play.

It means he's not as good :P didn't think i'd have to spell that out... and ortega probably will spend the entire year on the inactive list, since the browns have above average TEs.
