Wes Welker Is Fun To Watch

if you watched the game last night you cant help be impressed by this guy,he's only 5'9" 185 but he his fast and he's got some moves,he's just an all around good player,he's even kicked a fg and extra point in a game,I wish he was on this team,I'd trade david patten and James Thrash for him in a second

he's definitely athletic, but I wouldn't trade patten and thrash for him--thrash maybe, but not patten and certainly not both.

needless to say, I was impressed with his effort last night.

He's pretty scrappy.

He's the type of player that no one heard of before last night, but today everyone will be lining up to get him off the waiver wire in their fantasy leagues because he had a decent game. I wouldn't expect that kind of production out of him every week though. He's still the third wide receiver on Miami's depth chart.

Yeah I agree.

The guy I really like on that offense to have a breakout year is Marty Booker. With all the attention guys like Chambers and McMichael get, he could be a really nice #2 fantasy WR.

did you see booker after that hit over the middle? damn...he looked pretty concussed. I was surprised to see him come back into the game

Yeah he really looked out of it. He's a tough guy. He came back in and gave them a big play too.

Re: Wes Welker Is Fun To Watch

yep. pretty tough...if that had been pinkston, of course he would've taken a big dump on the field right then and there...but if he'd have managed to make an attempt and get hit like booker, his career would've probably been over ;)

wes welker is a guy that FF players should have known about since last year ;) with return yards, he's a 125 point guy (hall is a 150 point guy). returns = consistent points and 90 or so points a year, but he's a 500yard/year WR too.

my god was it me or did he look like the fastest player on the field last night. Although the steelers rb (parker?) looked pretty damn fast on that 4th down conversion.

Maybe for the people who know how to find the diamonds in the rough, but the vast majority of fantasy owners won't draft him, because they've never heard of him, or because he's buried on the fantasy draft sheet that they pulled out of a random football mag. As of right now, his fantasy ownership in ESPN leagues is 0.2%. I bet it goes up to 20%-30% by this time next week.

well, last year he was only really a #3 or #4 WR in FF. I own him in one league. another doesn't count return yards, and another has 8 people, sso i have better depth.

but yeah. he and dante are usually available after the draft.

Hey, off topic question here, but I didn't feel like opening a new thread for it...

What's with Duce Staley? He was a fairly high-priced, high profile free agent pick-up for the Steelers, yet every time I see a Steeler game he's on the sidelines. Is this guy perpetually injured or what?

Yeah, pretty much and when he IS healthy, Willie Parker performs better.

Duce and Bettis were supposed to be a big 1-2 punch last year, but Duce was hurt for most of the season, so Bettis took over the role completely. When Bettis got hurt, Parker came out of nowhere and started putting up 1oo-yard games, so he replaced Staley on the depth chart. Staley was "healthy" for the last few weeks of the season, but the Steelers found a great thing in "Fast Willie Parker" and would've been stupid to bench him.

Last year I had Welker in a league that awarded nicely for return yards. Welker was the #2 receiver in the league with that scoring, second to Steve Smith who also returned some kicks.

Every week he was money in the bank. Well, points, not money...
