Server upgrade in process
 

Just a FYI, we've yet again grown too big for our britches. I'm in the process of upgrading our server to a semi-dedicated account. In the meantime, in order to not tax our current server too much I have to cap the traffic. So if you see a message that says the server is too busy, you'll know why.

The server upgrade shouldn't cause any downtime, hopefully it will be done by the end of today. I'll keep you guys updated.

Thanks for the heads-up. Is this the reason I'm getting so many "server busy, try again later" messages?

I thought it was from our SI attention until I saw this. :)

Update: the server will be upgraded tonight between 10pm and 2am. We may experience some brief down time, no more than 30 minutes.

It looks like I'm going to have to leave work early. I can't be expected to sit here in my cubical all day if the site might go down for a few minutes.

What do I do for those 30 minutes? Is there a backup site? Ack!

On a related note - do you still need donations, or are ad revenues or other things able to pay for everything?

I know now why I was experiencing problems the last couple days. For all the good you do here Matty we can deal with the problem until you get it under control. Thank's........

Hey, I'm just a rationale junkie - I realize that if this site goes away due to lack of funds, no more smack for ODS's monkey.

The site would never go away due to lack of $$. With donations and advertising we're all set. If it came down to it I'd pay for it all out of my own pocket, but I doubt it would ever come to that.
