DC Examiner...anyone besides me read this paper?

I know its a free paper but this writer...Rick Snider calls it like he sees it. Check this out.Rick Snider: Free agency is proving costly - Examiner.com

The problem with that article is that he fails to recognize that Moss and Portis both set Redskins yardage records and Brunell had one of statistically best seasons as a pro. Marcus Washington should have been a Pro-Bowler based on his performance as well should have Randy Thomas if he hadn't gotten injured. Plenty of well-paid Redskins played great last year.

Peyton Manning is getting paid, yet he performs just fine. Same with LT, MCNabb, Brady, the list goes on and on. For every well paid player dogging it , there's a well paid player who has just as much fire as he did when he was drafted.

When will there be an article highlighting the effects of time and experience among your fellow players and coaching staff. The Redskins "carousel effect" is as much to blame for their ability to not live up to the hype. It takes time to get comfortable in a new environment with new people and a new system.

[RANT]They keep dropping that rag in my front yard. I've cancelled it about a half-dozen times, but the paper (the management, of course - not the writers) doesn't seem to have any respect for people's desire to not get their POS.[/RANT]

However, since you recommend Snider, I'll check him out. While I don't agree with the paper's politics, good Skins coverage is sometimes hard to find.

He makes some good points, but is this true?
"The great Redskins teams under Joe Gibbs were largely built through the draft."
I was young enough during that era that everyone over 20 looked ancient to me, but I feel like most of the players were older. Certainly at QB...

I had an email correspondence with Rick the other day. Real nice guy and answers the majority of his emails. He definitely didn't hold anything back there.

thats what i like about him. I was in burke the other day and couldnt find a post or times and settled for the examiner...gotta love free...and stumbled upon his article. I was blown away by what he wrote. He must have read my mind about the woes of the skins...honestly that someone else feels like i do about my skins makes me feel a little better.

Rick Snider is a third rate journalist and a jerk.

He obviously has an axe to grind with Dan Snyder and it shows in everything he writes.

This is just my opinion of course and hopefully it doesn't get me a 2 week vacation. :)

He has his reasons.
Mattyk72: Rick, to us fans it seems the national media is a bit biased towards the Redskins and some writers seem to go out of their way at times to take jabs at the team and Snyder specifically.

Do you feel there is a bias towards the Skins from the national media, or are we as fans just so dialed into the team and what is said about them, we are a bit hypersensitive at times?

RS: Those of you who read me for 10 years covering the team daily for the Washington Times before I switched to the Washington Examiner as its columnist last fall know I was always breaking stories on Snyder's misdeeds. The national media took its cues from me. They see Snyder for what he is. And while I could spend all day on this subject, let's just say I'm not a fan of anyone who made jokes about me while I was having a heart attack in the lobby of Redskin Park in 2002. Get my drift?
heres one for you then. Lets shut the down the "carousel" then. We need to keep our core players here such as Ryan Clark. It wouldnt have cost 30 million to resign him...as it cost to bring AA here. Everyone in the nfl knows where to go to get paid. Its here. We need to build from within. We dont turn this thing around i can see a new article written by Snider...it goes a little something like this....I TOLD YOU SO

I absolutly hate when folks say we need a real GM like Charley Casserly - that guy did squat here and and he did squat at Houston - he is a good guy who the press love; but he blows chunks as a GM.

Ron Wolfe I would like, Ozzy Newsome I would love, Bethard was great - I would prefer Gibbs stays as GM/Pres in three years....but PLEASE stop with the Casserly love.

Regardless of what did or did not happen in 2002 (we only have one side of the story and journalists lie at pretty close to the same rate as politicians, cops and lawyers) Snyder is being petty, destroying his credibility and abusing his position.

If he still has feelings about something that happened 4 years ago, he should do his health a favor and deal with it like a man -- and not let it control what he writes.

Personal feelings will always color how a journalist does his job, but this is just petty and sounds like a vendetta.
