Antwaan Randle El
I know I've mentioned this in a couple of threads but I figured I'd start a new one to debate the issue. What if we tried Randle El at QB? His college resume isn't too bad and when things break down in the pocket he could make something happen. I pulled this from wikipedia:
He finished his college career as the fifth on the all-time NCAA total yardage list, and became the first player in college football history to record 2,500 total yards for four consecutive years. He finished his career with 7,469 passing yards, 3,895 rushing yards, and 86 touchdowns running and passing. He is considered to be the 2nd most statistically productive dual-threat quarterback to ever play college football. |
Re: Antwaan Randle El
You mean full-time??
Not gonna happen. There's a reason why he wasn't drafted as a QB. He's undersized, he really doesn't have the arm, and his talents are better utilized at WR. |
Re: Antwaan Randle El
i am not ready for him to take over at qb full time. but i am ready for alittle trickery from the offense
|
Re: Antwaan Randle El
Not full time but like a change up for something like a no huddle series. That would have to throw any defense off balance.
|
Re: Antwaan Randle El
Maybe it's not a good idea to add this type of dimension to what is already considered a confusing offense, but I would like to see Randle El start taking a few snaps just to change things up -- not full time, mind you.
Just have him do what they've got Vick doing in Atlanta with great success. Get under center, fake to Portis, do some misdirection plays and QB draws here and there. I can only assume Saunders has a few of these up his sleeve for later on. Right now though, running the basic stuff seems to have Brunell and others mystified. |
Re: Antwaan Randle El
I watched him live when Penn State played Indiana and he has some insane moves. To use him only as a wide receiver is a travesty. I'm sure the Redskins have other plans for him, but can you imagine him under center faking a reverse to moss and running around the edge?

Re: Antwaan Randle El
Kordell Steward was a reciver and then did very well as a QB.....So why not try Randle El at it?!?
|
Re: Antwaan Randle El
he would be good at that shotgun option that atlanta uses with mike vick. but outside of some trickery i dont see that as a viable qb to use full time.

Re: Antwaan Randle El
This thread is absurd.

Re: Antwaan Randle El
While I think the occassional play or two, or even drive (defenses game plan on certain QBs, that would certainly be unexpected) but not full time.

Kordell Stewart did well? now thats funny. |
Re: Antwaan Randle El
Why would we use Randel El? If i remember right (being sarcastic) we drafted a QB and he is sitting on the bench, if we are going to play anyone else at QB it should be the one we will build our future around.

Re: Antwaan Randle El
is this serious?
his arm is weak, he's incredibly short (which means lots of tipped balls and inaccurate throws since he can't see the field well), and he's not that accurate either. yeah, he had a good throw in the SB, but get real. trick plays usually leave someone wide open, so his throws thusfar have generally been into zero coverage. |

Don't use him as a franchise or permanent solution. But how confused would Jacksonville or Houston be if we started the game, no huddle, shotgun with Randle El under center? If our quarterback can't get him the ball for whatever reason use him in a capacity where he could have an impact. If it doesn't work throw Brunell in the next drive. Seriously, what could it hurt at this point? I mean we''re 6 for 27 on 3rd down conversions. We need something, anything. |

I agree. I watched a highlight of Mike Vick in atlanta, now randel el is no mick vick, but the shotgun option they use would work or at least confuse a opponent |
