We can keep the optimism up so long as we keep the ball rolling. This is gonna be a catchup game if we stay ahead of it. The Eagles are sitting nice now but I expect their downfall come midseason. Giants/Cowboys should slowly fall back but it would be up to this this fine stallion and our Jockey Gibbs to sneak past. I think even at this early point in the season it can't be denied that home field in the playoffs is gone from thought-Lets accept that and deal with the real. Any Wildcard hope should not be the goal b/c that mentality could land them missing out. They have to stay on their grind and smash this division. I think this team is built for the long haul, they cant fall to anymore divisional opponents and basically need to get it together playing harder than expected because they are playing from the bottom.

Wow, did we just play the Jacksonville Texans?

Someone said before the season it would take about 6 (regular-season?) games before the offense was used to Saunders's playbook. We're ahead of schedule.

Last week CP came back to the game. But, just as important, (and probably associated with it), we got the short passing plays in rhythm. In addition, Brunell got the feel for this offense.

This week the mid-range passes as well as the OLine have started to come together. In addition, this is when the running game really started to look good. (Few penalties, better "opponent-adjusted" yards.)

Assuming this wasn't done with smoke and mirrors, our offense has shown the ability to move down the field and get points.

What about the D? As long as Springs is out I think it is suspect. I see him coming back no later than the 8th game of the season.

Which leads to an attempted analysis of the rest of the year.
Next week will be impacted greatly by which Giant team shows up. All things considered, I'd say it's a toss-up.
Next is the Titans, which should be a win.
After that, Indy, which will be tough, with or without Springs.
So we probably come out of game 7 at 4&3 or 3&4.
But then, with Springs back, we should have both units playing well.
In our last 9 games our away games are:
Philly, Tampa Bay, New Orleans, St Louis.
We should win (at least) 3 out of 4. (They're all winnable.)
And we should win our 5 remaining home games.
Allowing for one bad game in our last 9, we should be 7&2 in the last 9 games.

So I figure we won't be too good after 7 games, but we will have a strong comeback and finish up with 10 or 11 wins.

Just throwing this out while in "glow" mode after the game today. Feel free to differ. This is just to get things started.

We all saw it. We saw what AL can do. The O-line gave Brunell protection. We saw what he did. The D did a great job on the run. Springs return will help out the secondary. The running and passing attack was unstoppable. 8 guys involved.....................Consider the corner TURNED

We cannot think in terms of anymore loses right now. This may sound too hard to believe but, all games must be wins. This team is starting that something special now that we all saw late last year. For this team to be a super bowl contender and to have such a competitive division, we need to all think UNDEFEATED from this point on. This team could go down as one the greatest ever, especially to start the season 0-2. Can you feel the electricity?

We all knew there was going to be an adjustment period going from Gibbs to Saunders, the only question was how long this transition was going to take and how bumpy it was going to be.

Hopefully the roughest of that road is behind us. Things really seem to be clicking now.

Great thread to start. 2-2 is like 0-0. Brand new season. However, I'd rather we won the first two and lost to Houston and Jacksonville since conference wins are more important.

That said, last night's win completely uplifted the team's morale, which they need going into the Meadowlands next week. Last year, we had a meaningless 52-17 win over San Fran and got cocky - the Giants handed us our asses the next week. Last night's win was a hard fought win against a great defense. Should bode well for next week.

The victory puts the Skins in the frame of mind of a winner, of power. They go to NY armed with the knowledge they can take your Sunday punch, shake it off, and come back and kick your ass! Nothing like Monday after a victory. It smells like.................napalm

Hahahaha....nice reference, Col. Kilgore. But I prefer "lets terminate the giants offense...terminate....with extreme prejudice."

I just got this from the Jag site.

NO EXCUSES HERE,We just got a loss handed to us by being out-played.Both Off.& Def. Washington is a good football team. They have several playmakers as you witnessed yesterday.

With that said, it doesn't mean we are over-rated. Perhaps Washington were under-rated.

I said that b/c that's how long it took the chiefs to get the system the first year. I was really sick of fans calling for the heads of everyone involved with the team during the preseason and first two games. But the 'skins are better overall so it makes sense that we would find our way a bit quicker

Perhaps, please I think we all have concrete evidence now. Sports Illustrated is the only publication who picked us to win the division AFTER the preseason

Hate to say this, but one game at a time, y'all.

That being said (;)), we are much better positioned with this win. And if the D catches up with the O (as it played yesterday), yikes. 4-3 at the break would be great. We've got a few tough road games, but I think FedEx will be a big help down the stretch. We'll see!
