Wheres Chris Cooley been?
Yep i totally agree with everyone on running the football, we pay this guy so much and only give him 14 carries. The screen is great but not 30 times a game it seems like. And remember last year with Chris Cooley and how diverse he was in our offense wheres he now. 1 TD catch and how bout Mike Sellers didn't he have like 7 TD catches in the redzone. Its kind of frustrating with all this talent and we can't spread the ball. Give the playbook back to Gibbs.

Re: Wheres Chris Cooley been?
We brought in two #2 receivers, and Cooley is still our second leading receiver, yardage-wise and TD-wise. The problem is not there.
As for Sellers, CP is getting the red zone TDs, which is fine by me. |
Re: Wheres Chris Cooley been?
You know AL saunders is not the one who locks in on one receiver every freakin' play! I wonder who that is.............................Sorry ass Brunell! I'll tell you where Chris Cooley is................ running open down the field while Brunell is too busy throwing to Moss in Triple Fuckin coverage!!!:banghead: HAIL from MCUSA!

Re: Wheres Chris Cooley been?
only way to get Cooley the ball is if he's Bruney's number one read.

Re: Wheres Chris Cooley been?
Listen to Cooley's most recent interview on EITM (I started a thread on it). Cooley says he feels like he's been getting open when he's supposed to and that he can't really do anything beyond that. He stopped short of calling out Brunell or saying there is a problem, but he definately sounded frustrated to me.

Re: Wheres Chris Cooley been?
Cooley's not the problem in this scenerio. He is also being used more in blocking schemes...since Brunell is quite fragile and can't scramble an egg, much less get out of the pocket anymore.

Re: Wheres Chris Cooley been?
I think Cooley would catch a lot more passes if he would just run about 15' in front of Brunell when he scrambles and turns around.
Maybe Brunell just can't see that far down field. He should get laser surgery. |
Re: Wheres Chris Cooley been?
Considering that Cooley was the #2 option last year on pretty much every passing play, but is now the #3 or #4, I don't see Cooley's production being an issue. His numbers are down about 30% from the same time last year, but that is to be expected.
Cooley's numbers are completely irrespective of Brunell's (in)ability to check down to the open receiver. |

I thought he was playing the Tony Gonzalez role in this offense, which I thought meant that he was going to be a target on a lot more plays than just tight end screens and the check down on the play action rollouts that we can't seem to run without tipping cornerbacks off and limiting our own chances for success. Cooley is on pace to catch about 40 balls. We need him to catch at least 70. I wonder if he's dropped himself in his fantasy league? |

Agreed...that is vintage Trent Green to Tony Gonzalez, with the latter dragging tacklers with him into the end zone. Cooley did that against the Titans. This thread has been misnamed - we know Cooley's play has not been a problem - he's as sure a pair of hands as we have on this team - he catches almost everything thrown his way. His blocking has improved substantially too. Brunell has not been able to find him - not Cooley's fault. |

do you blame Saunders then? the Oline? honest question. |
Re: Wheres Chris Cooley been?
I just think it's a matter of Cooley being the 3rd or 4th option now where last year he was #2.
