has sean picked a agent yet.

Has Sean Taylor picked a agent yet.

I'm sure that he has not. The Post is pretty good at reporting such news and given the football news drought, I am positive they would have written up a story if he had made a choice.

jbcjr14 06-20-2004 03:24 PM

I haven't heard anything. He is going to be a holdout.

SKINSnCANES 06-20-2004 03:28 PM

I thought he already picked an agent a few weeks ago, the guy from Coral Gables that also represents Plaxico Burris I beleive. And we did have articles and posts about it on here didnt we?!?!

What a positive outlook on the situation. I havnet seen anything that would indicate that.

I believe this was the latest report on Taylor's selection process:

Redskins Note: Rookie safety Sean Taylor, the team's No. 1 draft pick, is expected to choose Eugene Mato as his agent in the next several days, according to several sources with knowledge of the situation who requested anonymity because the decision isn't official. Mato, based in Coral Gables, Fla., with International Athlete Management, has strong ties to the University of Miami, where Taylor played.

That report was from the June 4th edition of the Post.

we would have had posts if he had picked an agent jason, and yes we had one about him dumping rosenhaus and us being afraid of the Postons

From the Washington Post, June 17th (it's on the Newswire: http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/articles/A46228-2004Jun16.html )

Quote: "Safety Sean Taylor, the fifth overall pick in the draft, has yet to notify the NFL Players Association who his agent will be. Contract negotiations with Washington likely will not begin until mid-July. . . . "

We'll see...

SKINSnCANES 06-21-2004 08:00 AM

I thought he had alright signed with Mato, I guess not though... I just hope he gets an agent soon and doesnt hold out to camp.

Hey Joecrisp, can I player go to training camp without a contract? As in, he doesnt want to hold out but forwhatever reason hasnt reached a deal yet. Because that goes a long way to show you want to be with the team, to actually be practicing and letting your agent work out the money part.

memphisskin 06-21-2004 11:33 AM

I think Sean really wants to be here, and I doubt he'll be a holdout. Snyder has shown in the past that he's willing to pay big signing bonuses. I expect to see him in camp on time.

It's my understanding that rookies can't participate in training camp without a contract. I'll see if I can dig up the official rule on that.

saden1 06-21-2004 02:07 PM

I believe no player can participate in training camp without a contract.

SmootSmack 06-21-2004 02:14 PM
I believe no player can participate in training camp without a contract.
yeah, so make sure you don't start practicing with the semi-pro team until we get you that phat contract with the big signing bonus

joecrisp 06-21-2004 02:38 PM

Obviously, it wouldn't make much sense for a player to expose himself to a potentially career-ending injury if he doesn't have a contract or at least some kind of arrangement regarding an injury settlement. Even if there isn't a rule that players must have a contract to participate in training camp, most player agents would never let their clients take such a risk.

I've been sifting through the CBA trying to find some indication of such a rule, but it's tough to find anything amidst all that legal jargon.

SKINSnCANES 06-21-2004 02:45 PM

its alright Joe, thanks for looking though. Its probably a safe bet that rule or no rule he woudnt play without a contract. Man if Winslow signs before Taylor....
