Portis to have shoulder surgery

Though his season ended because of a broken hand, running back Clinton Portis will also have shoulder surgery in the near future to repair a torn labrum suffered during the Redskins' first preseason game back in August, the Washington Post reported. Team doctors said Portis faces four to five months of rehabilitation following the operation

I wonder how much this will effect him next year...

Shouldn't have much if he get's the surgery soon IMO. I realize he might be more vunerable to injury in the future, but it is better to get this out of the way than to play semi-hurt for the rest of his carreer.

He needed shoulder surgery regardless, so it's better that he's getting a jump on things now rather than waiting until the end of the season.

I agree that this shouldnt hurt him next year, I just hope that this isnt the beginning of the end for him...

We will be fine, and I am positive the front office knows this too. Look for a late round RB drafted within the next two years.

Yeah, I'm worried about portis, RB's are just too replaceable, and with a long absence, his value may drop significantly.

he'll miss a lot of the offseason because of it. other than that, just getting used to being comfortable using it again to take hits again...

Adding insult to injurying!

Now it's reported on XXX that Cooley has a shoulder injury.

I'm already having PORTIS withdrawls.
I wonder if they would consider allowing him to put on one of those infamous costumes and dance with the cheerleaders. That would be a classic! I'm sure he would be game!

This sucks, but at least CP should be completely healthy next year. In a way it's good this is happing now. We were done this year anyway. I really believe Portis will come back strong next year. And now we can really see what Betts and T.J are all about.

Re: Portis to have shoulder surgery

cooley has had a seperated shoulder for six weeks he said. that news broke on his EITM interview on monday, of all places. those are really good interviews too, since you hear a lot about what goes on behind the scenes that you really don't hear from anyone else.
