Lack Of Receiver Production
The lack of production from our receivers this year has been a huge disapointment. However, how much of their lack of production is really their fault? Is it because our offense could not get the running game going for much of the season so teams could drop back in coverage? Were they open, but Brunell could just not get them the ball? Or, is it just because they're not as good as we thought they would be and ran bad routes? What does everyone think about this? How much of the blame can actually be placed on the WRs for not producing? Sometimes I feel like it didn't matter who we were throwing the ball to, it still just wasn't going to happen.

Re: Lack Of Receiver Production
It's called lack of overall, consistent offensive production. I don't think there's one area to blame.

Re: Lack Of Receiver Production
I hate to admit it, but Rexi was absolutely 100% right about Lloyd. That skinny, whiny, fugly wideout should be shipped to Iraq with an American flag stapled to his forehead.

I totally disagree with you. I think Lloyd really wants to win and is a team guy. I'm glad he's a Redskin. |
Re: Lack Of Receiver Production
All the dinking and dunking when Burnell played probably hurt the wrs numbers as well.

Re: Lack Of Receiver Production
A little uncalled for.

Re: Lack Of Receiver Production
I think Lloyd will be on the playing field this Sunday.
Now let's take a trip into Nightmare Land...trade Lloyd and Betts for ............Randy Moss! Whoohoo! SooperBoll here we come! |
Re: Lack Of Receiver Production
Mark Brunell did not throw the ball to Lloyd for reasons that have been stated on the board for 2 years. How are you supposed to have production when the ball is not thrown to you? Our offense is not good, therefore most #'s will be down.

Two years. I guess with Lloyd playing for the 49ers last year it would have been very difficult for Brunell to throw him the ball. |
Re: Lack Of Receiver Production
betts is our leading receiver, because of brunell dinking and dunking. and also because of the offensive line not being able to pass block. and some of that falls on saunders, for his play calling. overall lack of steady offensive play

Was the ball not thrown to them cause they were covered or ran bad routes, or because Brunell sucks? |

I'm not willing to go that far (yet!), but whenever I pay attention to Loyd's routes, they look lazy. Maybe that's frustration from not getting the ball your way, but w/JC at the helm he's gotten his no. called & has not stepped up much. His attitude is something to be weary of at this point too, but let's hope that Gibbs straightens him out & gets some production out of him. I was always a little dumbfounded as to why Gibbs & co. went after him. Javon Walker was the best wr available, maybe they tried to get him but couldn't. Gibbs sees something in him, so I'll withold judgement till next year. |
Re: Lack Of Receiver Production
Obviously my little rant about Lloyd was filled with hyperbole.
My only point about Lloyd is that the guy has been paid handsomely, has blown a few big plays, and has yet to payoff. Therefore, when I see him throw hissy fits on the field and start yelling at teammates, I get more than a little pissed. This guy isn't a wideout of T.O.'s caliber and he has no business whatsoever acting like T.O. now or ever (as he reportedly did in San Fran). After reading the WP article about Lloyd and the fact that Gibbs might suspend him, I'm become a Lloyd-hater through and through. If Gibbs is even mentioning player character issues in public, you know the guy has acted like a serious jackass. And then to hear that Lloyd has been causing locker room problems all year......enough. I've always been a big proponent of Gibbs' philosophy of getting character guys. I therefore get really, really irked when I hear about a player causing problems for team chemistry. Showing emotion on the field or getting upset about a loss is one thing, causing problems for team chemistry in the locker room or elsewhere is a totally different animal. Perhaps I will be proven wrong and perhaps Lloyd is a good guy who is not causing problems, but at this point it doesn't look good. |
