Indoor Training Facility
One interesting comment from the Eagle Game by the announcers - they did not understand why the Redskins don't have an indoor training facility at Redskins Park and that in the cold months many of the players get Hamstring injuries (i.e. Moss has had this problem this year) due to extended practices outside.
Why don't the Skins build an indoor training facility so they can avoid these injuries? It can't be due to lack of money from the owner. This is one investment I would not mind Synder doing so the team can have this alternative if needed. Thoughts? |
Re: Indoor Training Facility
Toughens the players up and gets them used ot the elements so they play bette rin the elements.

Re: Indoor Training Facility
You've gotta play in it, might as well practice in it.

Re: Indoor Training Facility
I don't think the commentators knew what they were talking about when they started to equate cold weather with hamstring injuries.
No type of weather is conducive to hamstring injuries if you prepare yourself properly. It can come into play when you go from one weather extreme to another though (ie, practicing indoors all week and then playing outside in December). Moss has always had hamstring injuries. When he got here he started having *a lot* of massages. It has really worked well. He had a little trouble this year, but nothing major compared to years past. |
Re: Indoor Training Facility
There are both good sides to this argument. On one hand, we do play in the elements so we might as well practice in it. On the other hand, i'm sure the players definitely would like being able to practice indoors when the weather isn't nice outside. That and the whole hamstring argument too, we've definitely had our share of those and if practicing indoors would cause less injury problems then i'd be for it.

Re: Indoor Training Facility
Well we better look at what other teams are doing because we suck.

Alright, you win...THE MOST negative poster on this site. To answer the question, I agree to some extent practicing outdoors, but it doesn't appear to be helping. Also, I knew of no connection between cold weather and hamstring injuries. I have heard of injuries due to excessive heat. Starts with dehydration, then cramps, then injuries. But not cold weather. |

NFC East football is punching people in the mouth in December when it is cold, wet, muddy, snowy etc. If we build an indoor facility we might as well suit up the cheerleaders. |

If we build an indoor facility we might as well suit up the cheerleaders.
But if all the other 3 teams in the NFC east do it, and they all do better than we do year in and year out, maybe it is us that needs to change. Just a thought. |

Boy, you're just flooding the site today with "we suck" posts. Perhaps you've forgotten Step 7 7. Step Away From The Computer. Sometimes the best thing to do is nothing. After a loss everyone wants to jump on the site, which is great but often times (most times) emotions overrule coherence and cause the most tension on this site. The site will still be here tomorrow, take a day to regroup then come back and post sensibly. |
Re: Indoor Training Facility
Didn't seem to make a difference last season. An indoor training facility wouldn't have made a bit of difference this season either. It just wasn't meant to be this year.

Re: Indoor Training Facility
As far as I know, Gibbs has never had a indoor facility. So my thoughts are, it was apparently colder back in the 80s because we didnt have all this 'global warming' stuff and they did just fine. I wish that was an easy answer, but its not.

Re: Indoor Training Facility
If we had an indoor facility, those same announcers would say "why do the Redskins practice indoors when they have to play teams like Philly and the Giants in the cold weather, those aren't dome teams"

Re: Indoor Training Facility
Baldinger couldn't even pronounce Antwaan correctly so I wouldn't listen to what he says too closely.
