Any "Day After" Regrets for Beating Saints?
 

It was great seeing the Skins play well yesterday, but I'm kind of sad the Skins didn't pull their usual "blow it in the last second" routine.

Why? The fact that we helped the Cowboys makes me feel sick inside. Even when we win, we lose.

Lets face it, the Skins played really well, but they were ultimately a trap game for the Saints.

There should be no regrets after a win. It just sucks that it's come down to a win over the New Orleans Saints being considered an "upset"

OK, here's a question: As a fan, would you rather see your team win meaningless games to end a season in which there's no chance of the playoffs, or lose and secure a higher draft pick?

Look at it like this -- Would you rather be able to pick someone like Sean Taylor at #5? Or finish with you head held high and get someone like Rod Gardner at #15?

Maybe another point to consider is if the Redskins win out and go 7-9 for the year will the Redskins be less likely to bring in a GM?

If the Redskins had lost their remaining games would the pressure from outside sources including media be much more intense and therefore change the mindset of the team and encourage them to bring in a GM?

First off, I never root for losses. I even feel stronger about that with Gibbs as coach again. And the year we got Rogers 9th...we passed on Shawne Merriman & Demarcus Ware to take him. The skins will have a good pick even at 7-9 it just depends on whether or not they get the right player.

What is it with people around here being upset with actually winning? I for one would have been pissed if we lost that game, I dont care who it helped. It was a Redskins win, so it helps the Redskins.

Here's another thing to consider: Does eeking out a 7-9 record cause some players to have a "hey, everything's cool" mentality?

Or would it be better for them to sit and stew on a 4-12 record for eight months? In the interest of the long term picture, of course.

Some of you folks just want to find the bad in everything, enjoy the win for goodness sake. I've seen plently of bust over the years in the top 5 of the draft, and I've seen same great players come out of the 15-20 spots.

The goal is to win every game, no matter what the circumstances.

Everything else such as draft position, team morale, etc., is just crap for us fans to pick apart and over-analyze during the offseason.

The perennial playoff teams seem to do just fine with the position they are given. Actually an argument can be made comparing the top ten teams versus the bottom ten teams over the course of, say, ten years. I've never looked into it but I would be willing to bet the teams that draft later in the first round have a better overall record than the teams that regularly draft in the first ten spots.

I can think of one team that is doing something with their early round draft picks: the Bengals, maybe the 49er's but this is their first year of achieving a modicum of success, as it relates to wins and losses, with their draft picks in quite a while.

it's always better to finish the season on a positive rather than a negative.

ps. i don't think the players or the coaches will feel like "hey,everything is cool" at 7-9

What is with some people's hardon for a GM? One more person making decisions and steering this team in a different direction makes no sense to me. We already have enough cooks in the kitchen.

i agree with you. i think the way it is now, with gibbs, vinny and snyder's money is fine. they've made some bad choices, some (verdict still out) choices and some great choices.
