Smoot to be released???
 

It seems like there a substantial amount of tension between smoot and Brad Childress. With the rookie Griffin playing well in Smoots place, is it possible he could be released?? He has a high cap number, they already a very good corner in Winfield, and coaches love to clean house after the first year. If SO, could he revive his career and play well as our slot or #2 corner??? THIS ARTICLE CONFIRMS WHAT I WAS SAYING. JUST HAPPEN TO COME OUT A DAY AFTER I POSTED MY QUESTION. DAMN IM SMART!!!!!

If Springs is still here and is healthy, then Smoot would make a great slot/nickle back. However, I'm not so confident if Springs isn't playing next year. I always liked Smoot as a person, but he seemed to get burned alot after Champ left, indicating he can't play as the #1 CB. With Rogers still maturing, that's probably where he would be if Springs is gone.

I think it would be a little less misleading to title this thread, might smoot be released, or something like that :cheeky-sm

I was thinking we might have him on the roster in time for the Giants game.

I don't really think he would want to come back. I mean, I know he seemed to like it here, but I'm sure he wasn't real happy when we let him get away. I doubt he would come back to Washington and take a demotion from where he was when he left...I guess we'll see what happens, but I wouldn't hold my breath for him to sign here if he gets released.

I seriously doubt he will be released. Of course anything is possible, but we're dreaming if we think 1- he will be released, 2- he'd come back to the Skins. The probability in that is about 1000-1.

Smoot isn't the best cover safety in the league, but he isn't afraid to lay a hit on someone. I would not be unhappy to see Smoot back in a Redskins uniform next year.

Seriously though, I wouldn't be all that surprised if he did come back really. And then maybe I could be Smootsmack once more...or maybe I'll combine the two and be TAFSmack

the problem with your comment, well I should say with the coaches, is that they play him at corner and not safety.

with that being said, Adam A. is the best run stopping linebacker in the league!
