redskins offense/ bright spots

while everyone around here is focusing on the horrible performance the defense has had this season, it seems like our offense has found its identity. our offensive line looks like the strength of this years team. which is really good news for our young quarterback. and our special teams have been phenomenal. maybe Dallas' trash is our gold because suisham looks like a legit kicker. and frost could have easily went to the pro bowl. we have to good kick returners, and our coverage is outstanding

Like 2004, it's not like most teams are blowing us out of the water. Weird things are happening, such as Ladell's fumble, and losing the coin toss (not so weird, but not in our control), and we come up on the short end. I believe that if we went into next year with not a think different roster-wise, I think we could have 3-4 more wins than we do now simply by giving it another go.

But if we want to be that domanent team, that defense can't make the '06 Rams look like the '99 Rams.

Agreed. We have the makings of a dominant run team. Special teams look outstanding as they have most of the season (not counting the kicking game which has been much improved w/ Suisham). If we can get some WR chemistry w/ JC, we could have something special.

Campbell played like shit if you ask me, at one point i think he missed 9 passes in a row forceing us to rely on Betts who carried us the well untill he showed us just why he is a #2 back. I dont think our identity was found either, sure we got the run down but where was the pass that was used against the saints. Saying they were playing the deep ball is a load of crock if you ask me when they were filling the box to stop the run. This was one of the worste run defenses in the league and Betts underpreformed to me compared to his last outings. A lot of missed opertunities this game and i felt the offense as a whole underpreformed even if the stats show otherwise.

sorry but i gotta disagree with you. in my view, the skins offense is getting better and better each week. the running game is starting to look really good, the passing game is too inconsistant right know but still improving. with the up coming off season and the expierence from playing this year, i expect campbell to play very well next season.

no way did betts underpreform, i'm not quite sure what you were expecting but betts had a very good game with one untimely fumble. the rams defense played with great emotion, they were really defending the pass pretty good, they were playing to take away the deep ball and give us the underneath stuff but campbells accuracy was not his strength.

We will make sure not to ask you then. I don't believe Campbell played poorly at all. He has played quite well for only having 6 regular season games under his belt.

While I do no think that Campbell played like the other guy said that he played, I am not that enthused by his play either. The O-line have been giving him ample protection and he has not been taking advantage of it. I know that he is young and with the RB's that we have we are going to win games with him back there but our QB is going to have to carry his part of the load also if we are to get back to the superbowl.

If the point of us throwing the football isn't to pick up as many yards we can per pass, then maybe we shouldn't ever do it.

Our passing woes are hardly all Campbell's fault, but certainly his Vick-like accuracy on the short throws is the main culprit.

Just one time I'd like to see him complete 25 passes in a game in less than 40 attempts.

gets a free pass for the rest of this season. but after working with recievers in the off season, he better be ready to rock next season. anyone know if he was a high completion passer at auburn?

He's done it in the past, and I think by next year it will come around. But for those who are wondering why/if our passing game is struggling moreso than it was with Brunell in, it is and thats why.

Offseason should fix a lot of our offensive woes. Defensively....we can only hope.

Not great stats, but he had a very nice senior year. Remember too that he had both Ronnie Brown and Cadillac Williams there running the ball like crazy.

Campbell has been playing like he's stepping on the field for his first few games. He's inconsistent, yet has shows flashes of the caliber player he can be. The true test is to see how he does during the offseason, and into training camp, where it's been said they are going to work on his throwing mechanics.

Betts is a fine backup, and will continue to be so. The only thing I've noticed is that when he gets wrapped up, or hit head on, he tends to not keep his legs moving and driving. You learn from mistakes, and I'm willing to bet the next time he feels a defender move around him, he'll have 2 hands on the ball...

Overall the offense has played very well, particularly the 2nd half of the year. The offensive line has played better, and the receivers have been getting more touches. A tweak here or there should get this offense into high gear.

Todd Collins did say it takes about a year to master Al Saunders' playbook. Hopefully Week 1 of the '07 season is an indication of great things to come.

I was disappointed with the way our wideouts weren't getting open. Whether it was all on Campbell -- who did not have a good game -- I'm not sure.

But Moss was the only wide receiver who had a reception.

Obviously, this group needs more time.

Campbell is going to be fine. For those getting upset with him already keep in mind he's had very little time working with the first team and this offense hasn't been fully tweaked to suit what he does best. He's basically been tossed into a sink or swim scenario and he's handled everything with grace.

With a full offseason of prep ahead of him I guarantee he's going to be much improved next year.

Under the circumstances I think he's played very well this season and I'm really encouraged by the way he's handled himself.

JC is going to have to work his tail off in the offseason, though. A couple of coaches have commented on it (not in a negative way - just noting that the starting QB doesn't get to spend the offseason in Hawaii). I think he's got it in him, though, and should really start to shine a couple of games into next season.
