Tony McGee On the 2006 Washington Redskins
Hello Everyone,
I’d like to apologize for the last few weeks, and being around sporadically. Were currently moving our offices to Atlanta, and don’t have a direct phone line to hook into yet, so I’ve been very busy with that and just want to apologize for that. After taking the last week to think about the season, there are a few things that need to be addressed. Starting with Jason Campbell. I think Jason had a good season for it being his first with any NFL action. He made some mistakes as you would expect from virtually a rookie quarterback, but that “rookie” period is now over. He has a full off-season to sit back and reflect on how he can improve. One things that fans often don’t take into account, is the advantage that Jason had over some defenses this year in being so hard to scout. The one thing that hurts Jason next year is that other teams have times to look at him and see how he operates and what that’s all about. Time will only tell how much of an effect, if any that will have, but its something to be on the lookout for. As far as Gibbs being let go if the Redskins perform poorly next year, because of who he is he won’t be, and whether he deserves too or not is highly up to debate. He’ll never be fired because Daniel Snyder is infatuated with him, and so is a good percentage of the fan base. That part of the fan base would go absolutely crazy if Gibbs was let go. I see Gibbs fulfilling his five year contract, if they did something like won the Super Bowl next year, he could retire. That is really the only way I don’t see him fulfilling his commitment. On the topic of whether or not a coach has lied to me or not, of course they have. That is how NFL coaches operate. Players know that right from the start, they are going to tell you things that aren’t completely true, but you’re a professional and need to know what’s going on. Archuleta got his money and deep down that’s probably all he really cares about. Don’t bring me that crap about coaches lying too you, it happens to everyone in the league. Now with Portis, I heard the comments and all I can say is that sounds like a guy who is either on his way out of town, or wants out of town. I don’t know if anything will happen, but that’s what it sounds like to me. Finally, Art Monk was named as a HOF finalist, and he should be. Art deserves to be in, but I don’t think he will get in. Low key players aren’t enough for writers, I’ve always felt the same way about Larry Brown too, he should be in. Art gets surpassed more and more every year by different wide receivers, so its getting tougher for him. He should be in, but sometimes that’s enough for the reports, they want the TO type guy. Thanks Guys! We will be in touch during the off season without a doubt. Tony |

Re: Tony McGee On the 2006 Washington Redskins
I disagree with Tony on Monk, though. King and probably Dr. Z are both caving this year. They've been two of the staunch opposers. Without their voices in the room saying nay, a few other votes may swing Monk's way. And he didn't need too many to make it happen.
I think he's in like Flynn. |

I know right....:Sigh:. Really the part about Portis I still dont belive. The only way i'll belive that he's on his way on his way out is when I see "Portis traded too: " in the papers. I think that was just one of those instences where it was one of those "someone needs to say it, it mine as well be me" type things from the leader or the team. As far as Monk, I'm with you Schneed. However, I think if Monks not in this year, he will never get in. |

12th man, that sig offends me. |
Re: Tony McGee On the 2006 Washington Redskins
I don't think CP is going anywhere either. The guy speaks his mind no matter what the situation, this was no different.

Re: Tony McGee On the 2006 Washington Redskins
he said on his way or WANTS to get out. I can believe that, at least immediately after the season he may feel that way. Give it time & he'll come to camp looking to prove something.

Re: Tony McGee On the 2006 Washington Redskins
I really didn't think too much of the Portis interview. When you are losing players are upset. I commend CP for coming out and saying it. I think he was getting on some players that don't come out and say things to JG's face. Of course, the FO has made some mistakes and he came out and said he disagreed w/ their decisions. That's not the first time a player has done that. He's not leaving.
