Good, one less guy to overpay.

Re: Freeney won't hit the Market

I think the free agent pool is going to be pretty pathetic in the next several years. With teams having record amounts of cap space available to sign the best free agents, most of the players who will hit free agency will be old, recovering from injuries, demanding more than they are worth, have attitude problems, or some combination thereof. Eventually, player's salaries will rise and teams will have less cap space to work with, but in the short run, don't expect free agency to be rich with young and talented cap casualties.

In my estimation, the dearth of free agents will force the front office to do one of two things: (1) to use more and more of its picks to trade for players; or (2) to rely more heavily upon the draft to fill its roster.

Hopefully they choose Door Number 2!

Not a problem. I really don't want any more monster super-stars. It makes for an exciting off season, but to often don't work out. I'd rather have a "team" full of over-achievers and a killer instinct

Re: Freeney won't hit the Market

well, i said freeney wouldn't be a FA about a year ago ;) the colts GM made his thoughts public that far back, and after seeing how they handled the reggie wayne deal, it's no big surprise.

freeney is a freak, but i don't think he's the best fit here. QB, LT and DL tend to be draft only, unless you like 2nd rate.

So what you're saying is that the Skins will continue to be a force in free agency for years to come

I really like John Clayton, but is it just me or does he look like the midget who spoke backwards in that Twin Peaks movie?

Actually, he always reminded me of that half-human half-animal little butler guy in The Island of Dr Moreau with Val Kilmer and Marlon Brando...
