PS3 already considering price drop?

With PS3 sales lagging behind Nintendo's Wii console, Sony may have to cut its price tag to compete. Senior Vice President Takao Yuhara said that while a price cut has not been decided, "We may look at the price as part of our strategy to expand the market when the timing is right".

I've been tempted to buy one, but I know I won't ever shell out $600 for any system, so I'm be really interested to see what the new price tag will be. I'd probably be willing to spend $400 on one but I'd have to be in a really good mood to do so.

That new tony hawk game (which is like $60 itself) looks pretty sick.

Hell, it better sex me up for freaking four-hundred bucks! I can take my fiancee out to dinner and a movie and get more enjoyment out of my investment.

I think if you offered your friends four-hundred bucks, you'd be surprised what you could get out of them.

There's a reason why Nintendo dominated when I was a kid. F the playstation. F the X-Box. F Sega. F Colecovision. F Atari.

Nintendo's just way more innovative. I'm so partial to them, I'll never buy anything else.

Wii!

From available games standpoint Nintendo 64 and Gamecube sucked compared to Playstation 1 and 2 IMO.

won't happen. I personally wouldn't mind it but I just can't see it when Sony is already severely undercutting their partners on the Blue-Ray dvd player production by selling the PS3 for $500 & $600 and the cheapest u can get a stand alone blueray dvd player is $1000. There has to be some sort of language in the contract between them that says Sony can only undercut the stand alone players but so much or atleast they should have.
The price is a big hurdle for people but another huge one is actual games. I mean when out of the first 20 titles for the system, 14 have been out for the 360 already between 1-10 months before their release on the PS3 and look almost identical, that's a big hurdle to overcome. I'll get one in a couple years if Blue Ray is doing well or when games like FFXIII and God of War 3 come out, but until then I'm good with my dvd trade in bought 360 and my PS2.

nintendo innovative? yes the wii is but throughout history hell no. they tried to get by by making mario games for 20 years and that got old as hell

You really have to look at what you get for $600. You get WIFI, 60GIG HD, free online play and a Blue-Ray player. Not to mention a great gaming system. The only reason why I don't own a system right now and probably a lot of people is not because of the price but because there aren't games worth playing.

Sony isn't going to prematurely discount the system. They are going to wait and see how the system sells after the great games they have scheduled for release come out.

Once the PS3 has been out for a year, we'll know which console will be crowned king of the gaming jungle.
