Both. Then I can wear my 70th anniversary Smoot jersey again!

haha...I learned that lesson after a few too many B. Johnson and Davis jerseys...never buy a jersey unless said player is retired

In response to the thread...I think its obvious that Clements is better, but Smoot might not be in the market for a big contract, and he always, to me anyways, seemed to want to be here...so I say we give him a look

I really dont think Smoot coming back is all that far feched when compared to former players like Perice or Arrington. I actually think theres a good chance that Smoot would come back, and given our cap situation, he could be the better sign vs Clements, because I think he does well in the system, and I think he is really loved in DC. Now I dont know if he had some problems with that coaches when he was here in 04' and thats why he didnt get resigned, becuase I remember him saying that he thought he wasent coming back like in Nov. before he was a FA, but I really dont think its all that far fetched.

Hey! It takes a village to raise a CB.

i agree that smoot is more realistic then arrington or pierce, but i still dont think there is a good chance of it happening. dont get me wrong, i'd love to have the mouth from the south back but i just dont think it will happen.

We need a corner who can hit and make tackles as well as cover! Clements hands down. Although the price tag may be cheaper, we don't need a loud mouth who prides himself on his coverage skills and nothing else!

You remember Smoot coming up and playing the run with a dislocated shoulder, or all the hits with a bruised sternum? All injuries I'm sure Springs would have been in street clothes for.

Springs is a bit older than Smoot, that might have something to do with your last swipe.

Still, I'd be in favor of Smoot back in a Redskins uniform if he wasn't asking for something absurd. But then, I'd be in favor of giving Martin Mayhew a shot compared to the stiffs we have now.

That fact that Smoot got banged up all to hell doesn't really impress me, it just tells me the guy is fragile. He's still not a great tackler or the physical kind of CB that Williams tends to favor.

He was holding up o.k. in '04 until the Grim Reaper destroyed his kidneys...

Re: Nate Clements Versus Fred Smoot

Okay, so a guy gets hurt and plays through it and you call him fragile. Yet you stick up for Shawn Springs not being injury prone? Come on Matty. At least Smoot didn't wait till preseason to get surgery that will take him out for months.
