Another starting LG on the market
We have to be able to get one of these guys. The ravens starting left guard was just cut. He's 32 years old, but I think he's pretty good and he would probably come pretty cheap.

Re: Another starting LG on the market

Interesting name to consider

I say go get him Danny Boy.

Re: Another starting LG on the market
Just what we need. Another old player in decline. But if he's cheap bring him in here to compete.

Whatever Guard we sign in FA is going to be older, we just need to get someone in here to step in at Docks position for 2-3 years while we develop someone to take over. |
Re: Another starting LG on the market
He also has Bonus familiarity with our Center Casey Rabach. He was only due to make about 2.85M, that is pretty cheap. I think we might be able to get him for a decent price.

Better yet, we bring in a vet or 2 to compete w/our draft pick/undrafted free agents for the starting spot. That way we have some insurance if our rookies don't pan out immediately. |
Re: Another starting LG on the market
i agree with bringing him in. i would trust thier judgement on bringing in offensive lineman who are gonna start....our line has been pretty damn good since 04 and bugels return as coach there.

2006 Scouting Report - Scouts Inc.
Grade: 78 | Alert: None Comment: Mulitalo has a good combination of size, play strength and athleticism. He is tough, competitive and experienced. He has been pretty durable. He is a road grader type who is at his best working in a confined area. He can use his size to engulf defenders. He is quick off the ball and into run-blocking patterns. He has good functional strength and works hard to maintain position and generate a push at the line. He has above-average balance and control when sustaining blocks. He can be effective on reach and cutoff blocks. He can adjust and stay in control off combination patterns. He can pull short and block in space. He has good feet and balance in pass protection. He can bend, slide and change directions pretty well. He can anchor against power and maintain pocket depth. He has active hands. But Mulitalo has short arms and lacks consistency in pass protection. He has an inconsistent punch and will give up the outside edges. He tends to lunge, overextend and bend at the waist. He struggles to reset his hands on moving targets and doesn't recover well. He has limitations on long pulls. Signing this guy is a no-brainer, he fits in with what our offense wants to do and he should come at a reasonable price. He is ranked as the 8th best guard in the NFL according to scouts Inc. |
Re: Another starting LG on the market
i think hes a great run blocker, would be a good stop gap guy until a younger guy is groomed

Re: Another starting LG on the market
edwin is very solid. we should bring him in. at least 2-3 years and would kill the need to take an OG in the draft this year (though we still could as a bonus and for backup if it was a good value pick).

Yeah, but @what cost? Anybody have any idea what he's looking to make? |

thankfully he's old and a lot of the big money is gone now. i wouldn't go beyond 3-4mill a year though. 2nd round drafted OGs have about a 1 year ramp up, and cost about 1mill per year or so, so that'd always be the cheapest way to go, but unless you spend a late first on ben grubbs or whatnot, there's a good chance they'll be subpar for 2007. |
