What If?

Wow, if we had gotten Briggs, we would have been able to draft Branch.

Re: What If?

Apparently we would have drafted the LB from Penn State,

From JLC

- Had the Bears and Skins actually pulled that Briggs thing off, I think it may have come down to the LB from Penn State, Sears, the offensive lineman from Tennessee, Blalock, the Texas OL, or one of a few corners they liked a lot, including Charles Houston from Arkansas, for what it's worth Within Redskins Park, some people in the building really liked the Turk McBride D-Llineman who went in the second round, and they loved Eric Weddle, the do-everything, play-every-position-possible safety from Utah. I think the Chargers made a real stretch giving up as much as they did to get him, but he had a high-second round grade from some other teams too and one coach I spoke to last week compared him to a Matt Jones/Wes Welker type, only on defense. "There is no doubt you can get that kid on the football field for you right away. He's great on teams, he's coachable, he's a really good kid."

-- Have to wonder if there would have been have some push for Jarrett, the USC WR, at 31 had the Briggs trade gone down, as well?

Re: What If?

So we'd have gotten 2 defensive starters...1 a young pro bowler and the other filling our biggest need.

Hmm....now i am even more depressed about the draft!

I wouldn't be. We have a full draft next year as it stands now.

Hey guys, it's easy to second guess things now. I like what we did yesterday and I still think there is a chance we end up with briggs. We can use next years draft as a building block for our Dline and Oline. All in all, I'd say we did quite well the last 2 days. Don't be surpurised if the guy from Pitt. HB Blades is an wesome LB at the NFL level. The guy is always around the ball. He is a litttle small, but he has the best teacher (of small LB) in the game to help. The guy has a high motor and a chip on his shoulder considering he wasn't picked until late in the 6th.

Landry and Taylor as safeties for the next few years is also a blessing and should be a force to be reconed with. Look out fellas the skins are building something now.

I would have liked the skins to address the O-line with one of those later picks but I'm not totally dissatisfied with their handling of the briggs situation. The cap numbers would have been very hard to work with.
